Godzilla is the undisputed King of the Monsters. However, despite several decades of battles with other kaiju, it is hard to quantify just how powerful he is. A battle with the X-Men in Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #3 offers some hard data.

Written by Gerry Duggan, with art by Paco Medina and Javier Garron, Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #3 immediately establishes how powerful the King of the Monsters is.
The previous issue saw Doctor Strange contain the kaiju king within the Astral Plane. He did this after concluding Earth’s Mightiest Heroes had no chance of winning a direct fight. However, this imprisonment was short-lived.

After trampling many lesser demons over several decades in the ethereal realm, The King of the Monsters confronted Dormammu. A single blast of atomic breath was enough for the dread Dormammu to send the kaiju rushing back to Earth. It was here, in the city of Madripoor, that he faced off against the X-Men. Unfortunately, they did little better than the dread Dormammu.
Godzilla is more powerful than several X-Men
Perhaps the most notable point of trivia within the fight is that the dense hide of Godzilla can be cut by Adamantium claws. However, the best efforts of Wolverine do not slow the King of the Monsters. This is due to his healing factor, which Wolverine notes is even more powerful than his own. The kaiju heals his wounds far faster than Logan can make them.
Magento does little better when he enters the fray and turns Wolverine into an Adamantium bullet. This attack does stagger Godzilla, but he heals and recovers quickly. The Master of Magnetism is able to protect himself from Godzilla’s atomic breath with a shield. However, the force of the blast is still enough to send him flying.

The most horrifying part of the battle comes when Professor X tries to reason with Godzilla telepathically. The X-Men leader is left stunned after making contact with the “black heart and darker thoughts” within the King of the Monsters. That Godzilla should prove too much for the X-Men physically is no surprise. The fact that he could resist the telepathy of Professor X is another matter entirely, which proves the full strength of the King of the Monsters.
