Amanda Waller Just Got the Perfect New Base

The Titans: Beast World event has seen Amanda Waller make a major play for power. The woman behind the Suicide Squad has always had considerable political capital behind the scenes. Now, the woman called “the Wall” has revealed herself to the world as head of the US Bureau of Sovereignty. Moreover, she’s appropriated the perfect symbolic base for her new anti-superhero organization.

Titans: Beast World #6, by Tom Taylor, Ivan Reis, Lucas Meyer, and Eduardo Pansica, details Amanda Waller’s latest scheme. While the Titans were able to stop her plan to kill millions of innocents transformed into beast-folk, they had to break multiple international laws in the process. The Wall was quick to seize upon this, calling a press conference denouncing the Titans’ actions. She also unveiled the new base of operations for her Bureau of Sovereignty.

Amanda Waller concluded her press conference by revealing how she turned the Hall of Justice into the Hall of Order. The former base of the Justice League had been abandoned since the team disbanded following the Dark Crisis. The heroes had no comment, being more concerned with the task of saving Beast Boy’s life.

It is typical of Amanda Waller to find a way to twist the knife, even in her moment of defeat. Beyond her plans being thwarted, she also lost a major ally with the defeat of Doctor Hate. However, the Wall is nothing if not patient and willing to take one step back while staying two steps ahead of her enemies.

With Amanda Waller now free to operate openly as the leader of a legitimate government agency, the heroes of Earth have lost one of the few advantages they had against her. Previously, Waller and her Suicide Squad required secrecy to be effective. Now, there is little the heroes can do to fight against her directly without being painted as a danger to the public good.

Titans: Beast World #6 is now available in comic shops everywhere.
