Jimmy Olsen Becomes a Kaiju in Titans: Beast World Tour – Metropolis #1 Preview

DC has released an official preview for the fast-approaching anthology one-shot Titans: Beast World Tour – Metropolis #1.

Due to hit comic shops next Tuesday, Beast World Tour: Metropolis #1 spins out of the Titans: Beast World event series, showing its ramifications throughout the larger DC Universe. The one-shot consists of three stories: “Primal Pain” by Nicole Maines, Steve Orlando, Fico Ossio, Luis Guerrero, and Rob Leigh; “Turtle Boy” by Dan Jurgens, Anthony Marques, Joe Prado, and Wade Von Grawbadger; and “Don’t Stop” by Zipporah Smith, Joshua Williamson, and Edwin Galmon. It features a main cover by Mikel Janin, as well as variant covers by Cully Hamner and Clayton Henry.

On its blog, DC shared two unlettered preview pages from each story — for a grand total of six. Check out the covers, those pages, an official descriptions for each story below:

“Primal Pain,” Featuring Dreamer and Superman Jon Kent

Co-written by Nicole Maines and Steve Orlando, with art by Fico Ossio, Luis Guerrero and Rob Leigh, Dreamer, and Jon Kent team up to head off the infestation of Metropolis’ citizens by Beast Boy’s spores, and fight off an attack from Livewire, who has been turned into a superpowered electric eel. At the same time, Dreamer’s actions have caught the attention of Amanda Waller, who could have major plans for DC’s dreamwalking Super Hero.

Bibbo Bibbowski and Jimmy Olsen in “Turtle Boy”

Writer Dan Jurgens and artists Anthony Marques, Joe Prado and Wade Von Grawbadger spotlight Jimmy Olsen and Bibbo Bibbowski in a modern turn on a classic Silver Age moment. Jimmy Olsen, infected by the Beast Boy spores, transforms into a giant turtle, and wreaks havoc on Metropolis, and Bibbo and Professor Hamilton are the only two that stand a chance of stopping “Turtle Boy” from laying waste to their hometown.

Superman and Lois Lane in “Don’t Stop”

Writer Zipporah Smith (The Milestone Initiative) joins Superman writer Joshua Williamson and breakout artist Edwin Galmon in this tale of the Man of Steel and the Daily Planet’s Editor-In-Chief do their part to fend off the spore invasion of Metropolis. But lurking in the shadows is someone that has a keen interest in keeping Superman uninfected, for reasons that will play out in both Superman and Action Comics in 2024.

Titans: Beast World Tour – Metropolis #1 fleshes out the Beast Boy-centric event

An official synopsis for Beast World Tour: Metropolis #1 reads as follows: “THE BATTLE WITH STARRO REVERBERATES ACROSS METROPOLIS! As the ramifications of the Titans’ battle with Starro reverberate across the globe, Metropolis is hit with an unexpected surge of electricity from … is that–? No. It can’t be. Livewire? BUT SHE’S A– A– okay you’re going to have to read this one to believe it. Meanwhile, Supergirl and Dreamer take on the terror of the Flamebird, Power Girl is no longer, and amid the chaos a threat continues to grow on the horizon. All signs point to a major new shift in the world of Superman in Beast World Tour: Metropolis!”

Titans: Beast World itself launched this past Tuesday as the latest major story in the Dawn of DC initiative. The series puts Garfield Logan/Beast Boy front and center. In it, countless people the world over — superheroes included — begin turning into beasts, thus plunging the DCU into utter chaos. Worse yet, there’s no shortage of bad actors ready to take advantage of the situation.

Titans: Beast World Tour – Metropolis #1 goes on sale Tuesday, December 5 from DC.
