Mondo’s Gallery Pays Tribute To 80 Years of the Dark Knight

There’s been a lot of celebration surrounding Batman, since the caped crusader celebrates his 80th anniversary this year. And Mondo is set to get in on the action with a special gallery opening up in Austin.

Collider reports that the company will open the 80 Years of Batman gallery next month, which will celebrate all things Dark Knight. This includes looking back at his older days in Detective Comics, as well as more contemporary art, such as The Dark Knight Returns. You can see some examples of this gallery in the attached gallery.

Among the classic issues in the gallery, fans can see Detective Comics #27 (1939), Detective Comics #367 (1967), Batman #251 (1973), Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (1986), and A Death in the Family (1988).

The show will open on Friday May 17, and run through May 25, which gives fans just eight days to check it out.

“For most of my life I’ve been enamored with Batman. His rogues. His world. His look. It’s just about as perfect as you can get,” Eric Garza, Mondo Creative Director, told Collider. “It wasn’t until I was a bit older that I became enthralled with the artists who have lent their talents to drawing old Bats. From campy pulp detective to hardened Dark Knight, so many brilliant artists have added to the allure and majesty of the Caped Crusader. To celebrate 80 monumental years and the incredible comics legacy of the Batman, we’ve mined the Batcave for our favorite and most iconic Batman comic book covers. We are proud to share them with the world as beautifully produced screen-printed posters. Long live the Bat.”

So if you’re in the Austin area, don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind gallery. Keep your eyes on the official Mondo page for more details, which should post soon.
