Jeremy Renner fans may finally be getting their wish, as it appears that Hawkeye is going to be returning to Marvel Studios. Having been absent from the MCU since the 2021 Hawkeye miniseries, Renner has teased on Instagram that Clint Barton may be returning.
Renner’s Instagram post is an up-close look at Hawkeye’s iconic costume. This means that there’s no official confirmation as of yet that Clint is going to be in any upcoming MCU projects. However, it is a strong tease, and one that probably wasn’t posted without consideration beforehand, especially given some of Renner’s recent comments about a possible Hawkeye Season 2.
There is, of course, also the possibility that Hawkeye could show up in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, but whether or not that actually happens remains to be seen.

Renner made his MCU debut in 2011’s Thor with a brief uncredited cameo before he was one of the core heroes in 2012’s The Avengers. Apart from 2021’s Hawkeye, other Marvel appearances include 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Additionally, Renner had an uncredited voice cameo in 2021’s Black Widow and voiced alternate versions of the Clint in the What If…? anthology series.
What has Jeremy Renner said recently about a possible Hawkeye MCU return?
Details remain under wraps over at Marvel Studios, but Renner has strongly hinted that Hawkeye Season 2 could be happening. The actor said when speaking to The Playlist during a 2025 appearance on their Bingeworthy podcast, “We got to where we’re trying to do the second season. And I think I’ll get strong enough to be able to do it. And we’ll work it out. It’s gonna be great.
“…For a second season, that was always the idea to continue that narrative, even in the Christmas framework of it all, too, because they love that world in New York. There’s really no more beautiful place than New York until Christmas. After Christmas is kind of bleak.”
At this time, there is no release date for Hawkeye Season 2.
