Avengers: Doomsday is reportedly going through some last-minute touch-ups ahead of its release. The highly anticipated MCU installment is part of the franchise’s Phase Six slate.
According to well-known industry insider Daniel Richtman, the filming for Avengers: Doomsday isn’t over yet. “They’re still doing reshoots for Doomsday and filming for Secret Wars should start at the end of September,” the scooper said in a recent X post.
If accurate, production on the two projects could overlap in the coming month. Marvel has not officially confirmed the reported additional filming schedule.
The claim comes less than four months before Doomsday’s theatrical release on December 18, 2026. Meanwhile, Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 17, 2027.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Doomsday will feature a major team-up involving several superhero groups, including the Avengers, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men. The heroes will join forces to face Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.
Needless to say, the movie features a large ensemble cast with all the beloved stars from the franchise. The cast includes Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, and many more. The original X-Men cast, including Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, and James Marsden, will also appear.
Avengers Endgame: Encore gives fans another reason to look back before Doomsday
Avengers: Endgame is returning to theaters with the Encore version. The rerelease promises some new exciting visual details as well as a special sneak peek into Doomsday. In a recent interview with Fandango, the Russo brothers teased that Avengers Endgame: Encore will feature additional footage that is “going to connect the story of the two movies.”
The filmmakers added, “There’s a natural progression from Endgame into Doomsday, which is also inclusive of all the other stories that have been playing out. But I think it’s important to see Endgame again in theaters for two reasons: One, you’re going to have a lot of fun … and two, I think it’s required viewing for following the story in Doomsday.”
Avengers Endgame: Encore hits theaters on September 25, 2026.
