HBO dropped the Lanterns Episode 3 preview on Sunday, hinting at John Stewart’s origin story and deeper cosmic lore. The teaser follows Episode 2’s shocking ending where Sinestro issued a stark warning about Stewart.
The new footage showcases multiple flashback scenes spanning various stages of John Stewart’s life. Laura Linney debuts as a Guardian of the Universe, sharing a seemingly crucial encounter with Stewart. A brief moment in the trailer also reveals old television clips of Hal Jordan sporting the iconic Green Lantern domino mask.
Episode 2 concluded with Hal Jordan venturing off-world to confront Sinestro inside an intergalactic prison. Ulrich Thomsen portrays the disgraced former Green Lantern in the DC Studios series. Hal questioned Sinestro regarding the Manhunters, receiving a chilling and mysterious reply in return.
Sinestro cautioned that a surviving Manhunter would only be the “second-greatest threat” Hal currently faces. He then pointed to John Stewart as the bigger danger, raising a significant question for the series.
