Marvel fans have spotted what they are dubbing a major mistake featuring the Hulk and the Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. They have since taken to social media to criticize the team behind the movie for it.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s amazing fight has glaring continuity error
During a fight sequence with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher on one side and the savage version of Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, there is a scene in which the Jade Giant stomps on the floor, apparently destroying it.
However, the next shot seemingly fixes the issue as Spider-Man pulls the Punisher through the floor, while the latter shoots at the Hulk. Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are calling out the Brand New Day team for what appears to be a major continuity error.
Industry scooper @MyTimeToShineH took to X (formerly Twitter) to quote a post with the clip showing that particular fight scene. “OMG it’s real,” they wrote in the caption.
Meanwhile, @Viral_Vibe_ shared the same clip, writing, “This silly mistake from Marvel is really unexpected. How the floor automatically fixed after Hulk smash.” This prompted @yahyaiqbal40785 to joke in the comment section, “Hulk really smashed the floor, and Marvel said, ‘Don’t worry, it’ll fix itself.'” They added, “Movie magic at its finest.”
Elsewhere, @Filmi_fiedGuy noted, “Fans are making fun of Marvel for not fixing this VFX mistake in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”
The MCU is one of the biggest fictional franchises in the world, and, understandably, fans might have high expectations from everyone involved in their projects. “How many of us missed this detail?” @BrancoTolu81295 asked in the comment section of a post sharing the above clip. Another X user, @asakoplum, quipped in the same comment section, “Magneto, seems to be the answer to everything.”
Ultimately, while studios try to avoid continuity mistakes in tentpole movies like this, they still happen, and eagle-eyed fans almost always catch them.
