Despite generating plenty of strong reactions on social media, the second Avengers: Doomsday trailer has sparked debate among Marvel fans. Some fans have raised concerns about the movie, which is set to be released later this year.
Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, the superhero epic features Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth, and an extensive ensemble cast.
Biggest complaints from Avengers: Doomsday trailer reactions
Marvel fans have expressed mixed reactions after watching the latest Avengers: Doomsday trailer featuring Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom, Hemsworth as Thor, Evans as Steve Rogers, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Letitia Wright as Shuri, and several other returning characters.
@_nkemdivine_ took to X and wrote, “The only thing the trailer has made me feel is excitement for the dialogue. Every other thing may be a–.” @oluok1 echoed similar sentiments, writing, “It’s all the same beats, even Sue’s dialogue is so ordinary. Villain went through trauma and he wasn’t always like this, ‘I knew he was lost but not this bad.'” @mulkesirds wrote, “Doomsday looks like a–. I’ve been an MCU fan for 13+ years and honestly the trailer is so not promising, it’s so bad. I feel no hype and I know it will suck. It’s not just nostalgia bait”
One ardent Marvel fan, @Vegapunk212, pointed out that Marvel might be desperate to make the MCU popular again with Downey Jr.’s return and that could be the only reason why he’s come back. They wrote, “I think another actor playing Doom would have been better received than RDJ. It was a desperate move and it wasn’t worth it imo.” The best thing about the new Avengers: Doomsday trailer, according to @TomiwaTegbe, “Ian McKellen’s expression, so haunting, I felt how terrified he was. I was rooting for him so bad in that clip.”
@OMGIMANEEL expressed concerns for Doomsday after finding the trailer underwhelming and wrote, “I have major mixed feelings bout the Doomsday trailer. On one hand, I’m worried about everything just being underdeveloped and the movie being only spectacle. On the other, they made Doom so awesome.”
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on Dec. 18, 2026. The ensemble cast also includes Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston, and James Marsden, among others.
