HBO’s Lanterns just revealed what comes after that jaw-dropping pilot twist. The new “This Season On” trailer teases escalating tensions between Hal Jordan and John Stewart alongside dangerous new threats in Rushfield.
New Lanterns trailer shows what happens this Season after Episode 1
HBO dropped a new “This Season On” trailer for Lanterns on August 17, 2026, offering a glimpse at the rest of Season 1. TV Promos shared the trailer on YouTube, highlighting the growing dangers facing Hal Jordan and John Stewart after the premiere.
The pilot introduced viewers to a strange murder investigation in Rushfield, Nebraska. Jordan suspected extraterrestrial involvement and ultimately unmasked the suspect as an alien in disguise. The alien then attempted a suicide bombing, but Jordan used his power ring to contain the blast.
A shocking time jump closed out the first episode and shifted the story to 2026. Stewart arrived in Rushfield alone and found Jordan’s frozen body with his power ring nowhere in sight. This dramatic cliffhanger raised immediate questions about Jordan’s fate heading into the rest of the season.
The trailer teases even higher stakes as the season progresses. Jordan declares that an extremely dangerous being now knows someone has discovered its presence. The footage also reveals the Lanterns must track down a hidden Manhunter within a strict 48-hour window.
The partnership between Jordan and Stewart faces serious strain throughout the trailer. Jordan makes clear that nobody will take his ring while he still breathes. Meanwhile, Stewart struggles to determine whether Jordan deserves his loyalty as others pressure him to abandon the mission.
Lanterns features Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre as the two Green Lanterns. Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King developed the series for HBO as part of the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
Fresh episodes debut every Sunday at 9 PM on HBO and run through October 4, 2026. The series draws inspiration from crime dramas like True Detective and Slow Horses across its eight-episode run.
