One of DC Studios’ longest-developing projects has received a promising new update. Paradise Lost, the upcoming series set on Themyscira before the birth of Wonder Woman, appears to be gaining momentum after a new report revealed key creative talent behind the show and hinted at a potential release date window. The update arrives after months of limited news surrounding the project.
Paradise Lost creative team confirmed with potential release window
DC Studios’ Paradise Lost has received a positive update, with new information revealing details on both the series’ creative team and a possible release date for its debut.
The Writers Guild of America directory lists Janet Lin and Kira Snyder as writers on the project. The listing also places Paradise Lost in the 2027-2028 television season, making it the first hint of a potential release target for the series. As of now, DC Studios has not publicly commented on the information.
The update comes several months after James Gunn addressed concerns about the project’s status. Responding to online speculation in April, the DC Studios co-head stated that Paradise Lost remained in “extreme development,” pushing back on claims that work on the series had stopped.
Announced in January 2023 as part of DC Studios’ Chapter One: Gods and Monsters slate, Paradise Lost was introduced as a prequel set centuries before the birth of Wonder Woman. At the time, it stood as the only Wonder Woman-related project unveiled by the studio, with no new feature film attached to the character.
According to the official logline, “Set in Themyscira, home of the Amazons and birthplace of Wonder Woman, this drama focuses on the genesis and political intrigue of an island of all women.” Since its announcement, updates on the project have been scarce. More updates on the project are anticipated as it moves closer to production.
The latest update provides one of the clearest signs yet that Paradise Lost remains an active part of DC Studios’ plans. The series is being developed alongside a separate Wonder Woman movie, which is being written by Supergirl screenwriter Ana Nogueira.
