Technically, anything should be possible within a truly infinite multiverse. However, there are some universal constants that seem to exist even within the plurality of realities making up DC Comics. There are realities, for instance, where The Joker is sane and Batman a criminal. Even so, a new variant Lex Luthor introduced in Batman/Superman: World’s Finest defies all expectations.

Written by Mark Waid, with art by Adrián Gutiérrez, Batman/Superman: World’s Finest finds the titular heroes stranded on Bizarro World. Bizarro World is a planet where everything is the opposite of how it is on Earth. Up is down, right is wrong, and left is right. However, this strange planet still has heroes, who look to their counterparts from Earth for help.

Bizarro Superman Number One and Batzarro explain that a strange plague is making everyone on Bizarro World sane and rational. To make matters worse, the planet is then attacked by a Bizarro version of Brainiac, Brainzarro, whose uses his technology to enlarge cities rather thank shrinking them. As the two Supermen deal with this, the Batmen seek out the advice of the smartest man on Bizarro World; Bizarro Lex Luthor.
What makes Bizarro Lex Luthor so strange?
One might expect Bizarro Lex Luthor to be stupid, generous, or to have a full head of hair. Surprisingly, Bizarro Lex Luthor is still a criminal mastermind and businessman. However, he is also an obsessive fanboy/stalker who worships Bizarro Superman Number One.

As Batzarro explains, the “opposite nature” of Bizarro World manifests differently in different people. For Lex Luthor, this means a counterpart who loves his version of Superman just as much as the Earth Luthor hates the Man of Steel. Thankfully, this also means he is more than willing to help the heroes, in exchange for a good word to his idol.
Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #42 is now available at comic shops everywhere.
