Stranger Things Star Teases Plot Details for Spin-off Series

In the build-up to Stranger Things Season 5, Finn Wolfhard has shared a major update on the upcoming live-action spin-off of the beloved Netflix series. Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler in the show, shed some light on the yet-to-be-confirmed spin-off series in a recent interview, sharing some potential plot details about the project in the process.

Finn Wolfhard says Stranger Things spin-off will be ‘like David Lynch’s Twin Peaks’

While speaking with Variety, Finn Wolfhard drew parallels between the forthcoming live-action Stranger Things spin-off and David Lynch’s iconic mystery horror show, Twin Peaks, before mentioning that the project will be an anthology series.

Talking about the untitled spin-off, the Ghostbusters: Afterlife star said, “Like David Lynch’s Twin Peaks. Sort of an anthology and different tones, but similar universe or same universe. I think set in different places and all tied together through this mythology of the Upside Down.”

For fans of the Duffer brothers’ creation who want to know what characters from the original series could make an appearance in the said Stranger Things spin-off, Wolfhard had a disappointing update. “Don’t even talk about Hawkins. Don’t have any mention of our characters. They were toying around with ideas in case Netflix wanted them. I’m sure they do, and I’m sure it will happen, but there’s nothing official,” the actor added.

Wolfhard then shared his two cents on what the live-action Stranger Things spin-off series could entail, stating, “I think the coolest way, the way that I would do it, there has to be labs everywhere. If there was one in Hawkins, there’s one in Russia. Where else could they be?”

While the release date for the Stranger Things spin-off remains unknown, Season 5 of Stranger Things, which will also serve as its concluding chapter, is on track to premiere on Netflix on November 26, 2025.
