Booster Gold HBO Max Release Date Estimate, News & Updates

The Booster Gold HBO Max release date is a big talking point among DC fans. First announced in 2023 as part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe, the show centers on a time-traveling hero who uses future tech and showmanship to build his superhero image. While updates were scarce for some time, a major behind-the-scenes move has put the project back on track.

What is the Booster Gold release date estimate?

Booster Gold’s HBO Max release date estimate is sometime between 2027 and 2028.

This estimate is based on recent developments confirming that David Jenkins, known for creating Our Flag Means Death, has signed on to write the pilot. He is also expected to serve as showrunner if the series is picked up.

This marks a fresh start for the show after delays caused by the original creative lead’s exit. DC Studios only moves forward with scripts that meet its quality standards. Jenkins has just begun work on the pilot, so production and casting will take time. With several DCU shows and films already lined up, Booster Gold likely won’t premiere before late 2027.

Booster Gold news and updates

David Jenkins confirmed his involvement via Instagram, calling the project an exciting opportunity to explore a “lovable goofball” in the DCU.

Booster Gold, also known as Michael Jon Carter, is a disgraced college athlete from the 25th century. He travels back in time with his robotic sidekick, Skeets. Using advanced tech and historical knowledge, he creates a new identity as a present-day superhero. His main goal is fame and personal gain.

James Gunn called the series a character study that explores impostor syndrome in the superhero world. The studio has not announced any casting. However, it denied earlier rumors linking Kumail Nanjiani to the role of Booster.
