Wednesday Season 3 Release Date Window Hinted by New Update

Ahead of Season 2’s release, Wednesday co-creator Alfred Gough recently gave an update on Season 3 of the show and hinted at its expected release date window. Season 3 of Wednesday was greenlit by Netflix a few days ago. The series, which is one of the most popular shows to air on the streaming platform, is returning with its second season in August 2025.

Alfred Gough says they are already in the writers’ room for Wednesday Season 3

The co-creator and showrunner of Netflix’s Wednesday, Alfred Gough, recently chatted with Collider and shared an update regarding Season 3 of the show. Gough revealed how writing is currently underway for the third season and stated, “We’re actually in the writers’ room for Season 3. So we’re down the road a bit in the writers’ room, but now we, of course, stop to launch Season 2.”

This suggests that Season 3 may be sometime in 2027, considering the time taken to produce Season 2. The second season of the hit series drops on Netflix three years after the first season came out.

Additionally, another of the series’ showrunners, Miles Millar, took this chance to express gratitude toward Tim Burton, who also directed a few episodes of Wednesday Season 2. He stated, “It’s always great to have Tim here. And the fact that he did four episodes in the first season and four this season was amazing. You know, so, it just depends on his schedule. I think that’s always the thing. He loves to do it. He has such a rapport with the cast.”

Millar also detailed how VFX was one of the aspects of the season that took longer than usual. He stated that the show’s “production is much bigger” than other shows and conveyed, “These aren’t just episodes, they really are movie-scale productions. We have over 3500 visual effects shots this season — they’re massive shots. It’s all about quality and making sure that the show is as good as it can be. Here, we’re shooting eight episodes in nine months, and the level of visual effects and production is much higher. So, I mean, 18 months would be the bare minimum we can get the show back up, just from production to air.”
