Superman is now out in theaters, and while the film does feature two post-credits scenes, fans should not expect an MCU-style universe set up when it comes to Superman and the DCU.
Superman post-credit scenes don’t work like MCU

Superman’s post-credits scenes act more as bookends to James Gunn’s movie more so than anything else. The first, which plays in the mid-credits, sees David Corenswet’s Superman and Krypto the dog relaxing off Earth.
The second, which plays at the end, sees Superman and Mister Terrific jokingly discussing something that occurs in the first movie. Neither scene is particularly “important,” but are nice additional scenes that complement the movie.
While some fans may be underwhelmed by the two scenes, it’s important to note that Gunn has openly spoken about how he isn’t a fan of the types of post-credits scenes often found in Marvel Studios films.
James Gunn isn’t interested in using post-credit scenes to tie-in other DCU movies
Last month, Gunn spoke openly about the aspect of post-credits scenes in superhero movies. While Marvel Studios has essentially set the precedent that they be used to set up future plot lines and stories, Gunn has never been a fan of that. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Gunn specifically criticized the post-credits scene in his 2017 movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Specifically, Gunn didn’t like the fact that the film’s post-credits scene set up Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock. To Gunn, doing something like this only helps “screwing yourself over.” Gunn said he loved Poulter, but having to make a way for Warlock to appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 simply due to Vol. 2’s scene was tough.
With that in mind, it makes sense as to why Superman’s post-credits scenes are the way they are. Gunn is perfectly content letting his movies speak for themselves, and giving fans just a few extra scenes to make them remember the movie more instead of setting up anything in the future.
