As the 2021-2022 TV season winds down, The CW has just secured the future of two big Arrowverse staples. According to Deadline, the network just renewed The Flash and Superman & Lois for seasons 9 and 3, respectively.
Another season of The Flash was already a given. Back in January, word broke that Grant Gustin was nearing a deal to return to the show for at least one more year. In addition to a “sizable” pay bump, Gustin’s new deal allegedly caps his involvement at 15 episodes, which would make season 9 The Flash’s shortest season yet. The low episode count has also fueled speculation that the show’s next season will be its last. Regardless, it will officially de-throne Arrow as The CW’s longest-running Arrowverse series.
Unfortunately, there’s still no word on whether The CW plans on ordering additional seasons of Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow, and Stargirl. We’re also waiting to hear if the network’s Gotham Knights pilot will actually go to series.

Mark Pedowitz, Chairman and CEO of The CW Network, also issued a new statement about these latest renewals.
“As we prepare for the 2022-23 season, these scripted series, along with the alternative series we renewed earlier, will serve as the start of a solid foundation utilizing some of our most-watched series for us to build on for next year and beyond,” said Pedowitz. “These dramas are also important to our overall digital strategy, as they are some of our most-streamed and socially-engaged programming. And we look forward to adding more new and returning series to help strengthen and expand our multiplatform footprint.”
The next episode of Superman & Lois airs on The CW tonight, while the next episode of The Flash airs tomorrow.
