Tim Pocock, who played the young Scott Summers/Cyclops in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, has revealed that he will reprise the role in 20th Century Fox's X-Men: First Class.
"Currently shooting Australian TV series till February 2010...then X-men first class," he said on his Twitter account. "Wolverine" producer Lauren Shuler Donner recently hinted that a new "X-Men" movie would start production in 2010.
Written by Josh Schwartz, the film will likely draw from elements of the Marvel Comic of the same name, launched in 2006.
UPDATE: We're not sure what to make of this, but Pocock has updated his Twitter account with the following:
victim of cruel prank.last tweet=NOT me.AM filming Aussie show till2010.no official word on XM:FC but am interested.please post retraction.

Great, just what we need another lousy X-Men film by Fox.

@ Random
So true. We dont need more Marvel-Fox movies.

If the powers that be play this right, they could have a long franchise to roll out. Just follow the comic books more and sign actors for more than 3 movies like they did with the Harry Potter movies.
This way we could get to see the young actors grow and age into the more seasoned Xmen.

Yay, another X-men film by fox. PASS.

Interesting. Will they get Patrick Stewart to play Charles again in this film? They’ll need a little makeup & CGI to make him look younger, I guess. I wonder will they show how he lost the use of his legs. Also, I wonder if they will delve into the conflict with Magneto—and risk spoiling any events that would have been covered in the Magneto Origins film. Hm..
They can’t include Angel. Nor Iceman. So—just Jean, Scott and Hank?
BTW- that girl from ‘True Jackson’= young Ororo.

I think it's important that I offer my opinion on a movie that hasn't even been written yet. Then I can tell everyone how I'm against it...then I can watch it ten times, so I can complain about every detail, and argue every plot point. Then I can talk about how terrible the movie was until there is a hint of another movie coming out...so I can repeat the process.
Ahhhh, what a rewarding life I lead.
Oh, I forgot...this movie will suck.

Very true, continuity was screwed up from the first x-men movie with Iceman being one of the kids and then Angel not showing up until the 3rd movie(the Wolverine and the Xmen show is messed up in the same regard to Iceman), but have a little faith, now that Marvel is with Disney, this may turn out a little better.

FOX, please stop making movies. How about we just stop supporting Fox movies, people?
I'm glad that Disney bought Marvel 'cause i'm just imagining what a disaster it would be if Fox somehow ended up buying Marvel.
And i agree Doc Savage, this movie will suck.

Great, we get 2 hours of this kid yelling every time he uses his Optic Blast. Seriously, that's all he did in the last Flick.
"Optic-Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!"

LOL @ Doc Savage! Apparently that's what being a fanboy is all about!

If they play their game right, they could just shelve the Magneto solo film, and have his and Charles's conflict be revealed in this film. That could be fantastic. AND show how Charles lost his legs. This could be f***in epic. That will also save from having Magneto be directed by David S. Goyer, who's a great writer (Dark Knight, Blade series), but a miserable director (The Unborn, The Invisible, Blade: Trinity).

i dont know, i think this could be promising. better cgi nowadays and they have to have learned from their past mistakes, so...we shall see. x2 rocked, this could too

II want to say something to all of those who think this movie sucked. I enjoyed the damn movie and I believe that the only x-men film they truly screwed up was the last stand. The director made a child-like design with an adult twist. x-men and x-2 along with wolverine we the best films for the x-men series.

Why won't Fox just piss off!?

I too like the xmen movies by FOX, I really don't care about studio "hate-ons" - if i like the movie i like it, if i don't i don't. I don't get my knickers in a twist over it!

Maybe Disney should send some large gentlemen to firmly suggest that Fox give up the X-Men rights...
Posted by: Someguy on September 17, 2009 at 11:28:09
I know Wolverine: Origins was a "Prequel" to the X-men franchise, but with Scott being in it, it also altered the story of them. In a way it could be considered a 're-boot' and they can make the First class movie reestablish a more traditional continuity.
But while I’m on the subject of continuity; Continuity is different from the comics which is different then the cartoons which is different then the ultimate comic’s line. I don’t see why everyone is so uptight about it. As long as the characters are true to the source I don’t really care if they are slightly different.
Complaining about a movie that has only been hinted at is already being flamed by the some people that flocked to the last 4 fox X-men movies. If you are truly that set against the movie, don’t hit the sites about them, and don’t go see them at the theaters. You, the masses, are the reason the movies get made.

i agree with thebronzeman on this... everyone that likes the comics, cartoons, toys, etc. should be glad they even get to see something they liked as a child made into a movie. when i was a kid, i enjoyed the masters of the universe movie for what it was, but they left out battlecat... wtf. anyways, back to the point, like or hate the movie, you'll all still see the ads when they hit the net or tv. i'm just glad they didn't do a gambit movie...

props to Someguy.

Since nothing has been said If Kevin Feige and the Marvel production people will be staying on we don't know what Disney owned marvel films will be like.
Wolvernine was slightly better than The Last Stand, and both are classics compared to the piece of **** that Is Revenge of the Fallen.
Patrick Stewart will likely play Xavier.Cyclops,Storm,Beast,Jean and likely Emma
Frost and possabilty other X-Men characters not In the first X-Men trilogy. If the Magneto film goes through there are rumors Fox Is looking to Replace David Goyer as Director and It would focus on his origin with the begining and end with Ian Mckellan In the present. In First Class they can If they choose to show the fallout between Magneto and Xavier.
I just hope they can get a decent director for First Class. My wish would be Bryan Singer but first Class starting In 2010 makes that unlikely
Posted by: Garange on September 17, 2009 at 11:44:31
To make it more authentic, Cyclops should say, "My ruby quartz visor keeps my optic blasts from hurting innocents!" every few minutes! Then it would be just like the comic and everyone will be happy!
