Marvel Entertainment Inc., has partnered with renowned Japanese animation studio Madhouse (Paprika, Tokyo Godfathers) and multiple-Eagle Award winner Warren Ellis to create four all new anime versions of classic Marvel Super Heroes. Below, you'll get a first glimpse at Iron Man and Wolverine, two of the planned four series.
These Marvel Anime TV series are being created as a way of merging the beloved Marvel Super Heroes of western culture with the bold animation tradition of Japan. The resulting product will be four visually groundbreaking anime series featuring popular Super Heroes redesigned and repurposed as emerging from the fabric of Japanese culture. The series is expected to begin appearing on the Animax channel in Japan in spring of 2010.

Iron Man Anime looks awesome!
Wolverine Anime? Ugh.....
Posted by: The Truth on July 29, 2009 at 12:52:30
I can live with the Iron Man anime. The Wolverine anime looks horrible. Just some regular anime flick but the guy has claws, not swords. Meh.
Oh, and screw all the retards that want to say the magic word. Not gonna happen!

They are going anime in the marvel side now. Reminds me of how DC did Gotham Knights, but this one has a bit more flavor to it.

Thats pretty Cool.. Always wondered what they would look like as Anime. :-) The Wolverine one looks kind of weak tho.

Same here
Wolverine lacked what makes Wolverine who he is.

Pretty much agree with above. Iron Man looks like the genuine article. Wolv is bunk.
Always thought X-Men given this treatment would be dope. Actual comic book costumes though.

I will be buying Ironman but I am not sure about wolverine
Posted by: Tony on July 29, 2009 at 13:08:35
Not a fan of what they're doing here.
Posted by: matthooper on July 29, 2009 at 13:13:40
Interesting, They made Wolverine a skinny woman.
Posted by: Jeff on July 29, 2009 at 13:14:38
The Iron man one looks great. But like most have said the Wolverine one is not Wolverine. Its just some random anime guy with claws.
Posted by: Harish on July 29, 2009 at 13:17:40
Agreed with the above. Iron Man looks ace (in costume) but Wolverine just seems to lack anything interesting in its stylisation. I'll check it out regardless though, gotta judge it fairly.

The Iron Man looks like ROBOTECH or one of those animes that moves too damn fast and is just an explosionfest. Not impressed.
The WOLVERINE. He looks like a ballet dancer with a mullet and a serious case of HIV. That one is a serious pass for me.
Pretty lame.

The shaper says wolverine design sucks- iron amn however looks very cool. the success or failure of the anime concept relies on the initial buyin these the reimagined character has an essence/resemblance to the original. i do not subscribe to dramatic changes in wolverine case ( we are just left with a skinny guy with claws-) the essence is lost. i feel the real changes should be made in animation style and storytelling
Please Marvel listen to reason or this will fail
Heed the words of the shaper

Man, the Wolverine one looks ridiculous. Why does every anime character have to look the same. Always thin and lanky. Just bad.
Posted by: DL on July 29, 2009 at 13:20:59
Who the hell was that?! Logan's bastard kid? Give me a break. O_o
Iron Man, one word, Awesome.
Posted by: Bobby Suave on July 29, 2009 at 13:24:20
Why can't Wolverine be open to creative interpretation. Our Wolverine is safe and sound in his comics, so why not have fun with this "what if..." style Wolverine. Sure the what if looks like a skinny woman, but watch it for substance not appearance. What I really want to know is who the other two super heroes will be.

IronMan one looked awesome and.. the other one ...sterotypical anime with claws.. it was a piece of crap
Posted by: Bucknersty on July 29, 2009 at 13:33:54
Too bad the US can't get any decent anime. They could have made Wolverine look at least an iota like Wolverine. Probably won't have the Canadian accent either, eh?
Posted by: Optimus Sublime on July 29, 2009 at 13:36:07
What are the other two characters they're doing?
Posted by: mojojackson on July 29, 2009 at 13:37:54
I think they both look badass, but yes, the Wolverine one is weird. I think it could've worked if they did it exactly the same way, but made Wolvie actually look like himself. All the other changes I can buy as part of the anime reimagining, but wow, that 80s hair band mullet!
I actually think the Wolverine trailer looks cool, I just don't see how it's Wolverine. Nothing about the trailer suggested Wolverine other than the claws and the eastern setting.
They both look badass and one of them is bizarre, but I'll probably buy 'em both. I haven't bought any Marvel animated films so far because of the lousy animation, but I dig the visuals of anime.
Does anyone know what the other 2 Marvel animes they're working on are? Any thoughts on what they should be?

Two words describe the Wolverine bit:
Stoo. Pid.
Posted by: Ultimo Lantern on July 29, 2009 at 13:53:12
The other 2 animes are sapposed to be Spider-Man and Capt. America......or that was the rumor going around when I was at SDCC.
