Which X-Men Movie is Next?
Source:Superhero Hype!
June 19, 2009

With X-Men Origins: Wolverine having already pulled in $356.2 million worldwide, and both a sequel and Deadpool spin-off in the works, we were wondering what the status of the other "X-Men" spin-offs was.

Today, we got a chance to talk to David Goyer, who's executive producing ABC's upcoming "Flash Forward" and whose The Unborn hits DVD and Blu-ray on July 7. Goyer has been attached to write and direct Magneto, but he's not sure if that will move forward before X-Men: First Class.

"There have been some preliminary discussions," he told us about Magneto, adding, "I think, at Fox, they're trying to decide if making a young X-Men film makes the most sense next, does making a 'Magneto' make the most sense next. They're just trying to decide internally who's next up."

So it sounds like there's a face-off between Wolverine, Deadpool, Magneto and First Class at Fox right now. Who do you think will win and get the green light first?

I want Magneto and Deadpool the most, the rest, doesn't really matter to me.

I REALLY want to see First Class, so i hope that's next, and I wouldn't mind an X4, either

I'd like Deadpool first.

Hey FOX, LEAVE THE X-MEN and ALL OTHER MARVEL FRANCHISES ALONE!!! Anything FOX has touched needs a DRASTIC REBOOT!!! Let Marvel studios do 'em right, 'nuff said.

Instead of any of those, or the avenger movie, they should diret all their attention to a movie that follows the DC versus Marvel comic. Anyone agree?

id rather have z-men first class. Why because movie spinoffs suck.

plain and simple

Deadpool without a question.

Honestly I'd love to see another wolverine movie and a deadpool before I'd want to see Magneto or First Class.

Sorry folks, but the original class was cyclops, jean, beast, angel, and iceman. The movie versions of the characters were alright, but the previous films already messed with the mythology. Don't try telling me the first class is Jubilee, colossus, ice man and kitty pride. Please... don't make me laugh.

Secondly, Magneto is the greatest character in Marvel comics. I do not believe anyone would give him a film he truly deserves. Peronally I think this Magneto has the opportunity, if done correctly, to be the biggest film Marvel has made so far.

I'd love to see Deadpool get his own movie, but will it be completely seperate from Xmen Origins? If not, how the hell did he survive being decapitated, and how you reverse the lame mutations they added to him?

I think from the success of Origins, its obvious the fans want to see more wolverine. Let them have it!

I want to see a studio that's not Fox make the movie they're terrible

Posted by: JP on June 19, 2009 at 18:39:10

Please no more wolverine...

I had no idea Origins was really thought of as a success...it's a lackluster film that happened to perform decently at the box office....but, I mean, it's Wolverine...did anyone expect less?

I'd prefer Magneto of The First Class...I have zero interest in a Deadpool or Wolverine movie....ugh

how about just another x-men film. i'm so sick of all these spin-off movies. i don't care. it's just a way to make more money and not even about the quality of the film. elektra proved that for daredevil.

Posted by: I`M THE JUGGERNAUGHT *****!!! on June 19, 2009 at 18:45:37

Forget all these other spin offs, bring on juggernaught THE MOVIE.Two hours of an ex football(soccer for the yanks)player running through walls and shouting "I`m the juggernaught *****".Chuck in a bit of cockney rhyming slang and leave out the acting and you`ve got yourself a blockbuster right there.

No one will go see a Deadpool movie. It'll bomb, trust me. Wolverine is the 2nd most popular Marvel character after Spidey. They're throwin $ away if they make a Deadpool movie or Magneto flick. They need to 'reboot' an X-Men team movie...so First Class might be the way to go. I'd pay to see a young, scantily clad Emma Frost with her boobs bustin out and stripper boots ...have Colossus, Kitty Pryde, Beast, Angel, and Cyclops too!

Posted by: ironlion on June 19, 2009 at 18:55:07

lol at i'm the juggernaught *****!!!

you should get a script together and i can see a trilogy.

Do a Gambit film, forget the rest!

Posted by: Kneel before Ken!!! on June 19, 2009 at 18:57:19

How about selling the rights (all marvel related properties) back to marvel, with only the condition of distribution and then their wallets and our satisfaction will expand!!!

Posted by: ironlion on June 19, 2009 at 18:57:49

first class will prob be, banshee, cyclops, emma frost, jean grey, storm and beast as field leader. just going by film mythology, they could throw gambit in there too.

Posted by: mike on June 19, 2009 at 18:58:02

how about none since wolverine was terrible

Posted by: Doctor Splatter on June 19, 2009 at 19:02:11

Fox has ruined X-MEN for me when they drove Bryan Singer out. Marvel needs to take this back and start over!

Posted by: Steyin on June 19, 2009 at 19:03:32

As long as the property is with Fox, it will suck as the previous films all did (X2 being the best though).

Posted by: Angel of Death on June 19, 2009 at 19:05:23

Honestly, I think First Class needs to come first. It's the only movie capable of capturing the spirit of the earlier X-Men films, considering it'll be an ensemble film with the actual X-Men in it (as opposed to just one, or a bunch of X-Men rejects like Origins). I think it'll be straight up X-Men Vs. bad-guy movie. Perhaps taking things back to the style of the 60s team Vs. Magneto.

I really don't think Deadpool should be next. Ordinarily I'd be fine with the idea, but considering how much they butchered the character in Origins (and thus surprising that so many people are rooting for a Deadpool movie next) I don't want Fox to do any more with that character!

Meh on Magneto and Wolverine 2.
