Ryan Reynolds Talks More Deadpool
June 11, 2009
With The Proposal opening in theaters next Friday, Ryan Reynolds has been doing more interviews and MTV talked to him more about starring in the "Wolverine" spin-off Deadpool.
"I get to be the authentication police, in a weird way," he said about his involvement in the project. "To their credit — the studio's credit — they want to make an authentic 'Deadpool' movie; they want to make it as close to the source material as possible."
Reynolds added that he and the studio have already agreed to some key terms. "He's going to be the Merc with the Mouth, [we're going to give] all those answers that everyone wants. He's going to have the scarred-up face, he's going to be in the suit — and, it's going to be incredible."
You can read more of the interview here. No release date has been set yet.

Hope he keeps his word on this. I hated what they did to deadpool in Wolverine.

ALL they need is the suit, a mouthy merc, and cool action scenes. That is what we call WIN BABY!
Posted by: Batchat on June 12, 2009 at 01:02:18
Just what I needed to hear. I hope they do a good job with the suit and use real stunt work and special effects without resorting to CGI. That would be too perfect.

what?!?! no laser eyes!!!! i'll never watch this crap! where's the continuity?
Posted by: Batchat on June 12, 2009 at 01:04:50
Does Deadpool ever hunt Venom in the comics? Because I wouldn't mind seeing Eddie Brock being reinvented in the same movie either.

Fox is going to be attached to it, so it's going to suck as simple as that.

Fck Yeah Ryan Reynolds. he knows a good thing when he sees it and doesnt want the studios to fck it up! And he is perfect for the part

...for me this is good news so far, lets just hope "the studio" puts their money where the money is and stays on the source material as close as possible...
...one thing i dont get is why NONE of so-called comic books oriented sites or writers, editors or critics have the balls to interview the people responsible for this kind of movies and ask them straight up why they screw the characters we fans love...e.g.,comes to mind an interview to Jackman about the mess he did with Deadpool...

in wolverine, it is merc with a ****!!
Posted by: the badguy on June 12, 2009 at 01:21:40
please , no power ranger stunts. like gambit running on walls and leaping to other walls, like in wolverine part 4 that just came out. if its one thing i cant stand, its stupid power ranger stunts. everything else sounds good. alittle too good?

Supposedly Hugh Jackman was really into the Wolverine character and wanted him to be authentic also. I didn't mind the Wolverine movie, but it wasn't really the Wolverine the fans expected/wanted. It was a version of Wolverine. Now as for Deadpool's character I will never undstand why did that to him. So maybe Reynolds will be true to the character, maybe not. If he is more like the Deadpool from the comics then how will they explain what happened in the Wolverine movie?
Posted by: Bomtron on June 12, 2009 at 01:27:04
Correction: I will never understand why THEY did that to him.

the studio wants it to be close to the source material? I'll believe that when i see it.

This could be better than Wolverine's movie. Keep the movie real.

Yes Wolverine was weaksauce but you people get WAY too bent out of shape with Deadpool in Wolverine.
Did you not pay attention when the doctor says "Are you sure you want to release him the bonding process isn't complete" hence the optic blasts, teleporting, etc ISN'T PERMANENT. However the scars are. So technically they did not **** him up

I saw Ryan Reynolds at wizard world dallas back in 04 and even then he wanted to make this movie! I have faith even though "Deadpool" sucked, Wade Wilson was awesome in Wolverine.

You know, I heard a rumor going around that they were going to play off the so called "deadpool" in wolverine as a clone. It's quite possible because in wolverine victor was going and collecting dna for the whole weapon X or XI project. On a personal level, however, I don't want to see any part of the so called "deadpool" from wolverine transfer over to this movie. It may upset some people, but I think it best if they don't even aknowledge the other version. Just leave it alone. Act like it never happened. This movie needs to be one that stands on it's own and tells the story of Deadpool all on it's own. That crap in wolverine was an embarassment. Wade Wilson wasn't too bad but deadpool was just embarrassing. I hope this movie doesn't try to justify it or connect it at all.

Sure, Ryan Reynolds has incredible creative control over the production... until it gets to actual full on production time and Tom Rothman gets his greedy little hands on it. I mean does everyone really think Rothman will actually stay out of the way of the creative process of a big budget, summer tentpole movie for Fox? Unless Ryan Reynolds somehow worked it into a contract for the spin-off that he has the final say (which I doubt) then Rothman's track record points to him meddling with the film. One can only hope the eventual changes and BS that Rothman forces down the throats of the producers and the creative team aren't that bad.
I'm sorry but this asshat Rothman has screwed up too many Fox movies and franchises for me to think he will just sit this one out and let Ryan Reynolds make the calls.
