July 6, 2008

The new issue of Empire magazine has this new promo photo of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine for 20th Century Fox's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, opening May 1, 2009. Directed by Gavin Hood from a David Benioff, the action-thriller co-stars Liev Schreiber, Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Kitsch, Will.i.am, Danny Huston, Dominic Monaghan, Daniel Henney and Lynn Collins.

Leading up to the events of X-Men, X-Men Origins: Wolverine tells the story of Wolverine's epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe.

like it. i want a teaser trailer

Posted by: NegLee on July 6, 2008 at 20:57:16

They could at least refer to Captain A in this movie. That would be nice.

Posted by: lefty on July 6, 2008 at 21:03:10

to answer the question about him looking younger..... because of his healing abilitys which allows his body to fight off disease and therefore the effects of againg there is really no way of telling how old wolverine actually is. he can look the same in this movie and it will still be ok

I agree with Spidertracer, I don't think anybody who can be in GQ should play Wolverine.

Posted by: GoldenAvenger7 on July 6, 2008 at 22:11:24

My claws are glued on...

Posted by: Batdad on July 6, 2008 at 22:30:19

Im thinking there will be a lot more out once Comic Con hits. But nice for the teaser.

Posted by: Dark on July 6, 2008 at 22:55:19

to Willard and Spidertracer,

There is a reason it is called acting tards. Thats the most retarded logic. You might as well say the guy playing the blob is wrong because he isnt fat

Posted by: spider-bite on July 6, 2008 at 23:13:23

man those claws are getting a little thick.

Posted by: Dave on July 7, 2008 at 00:03:19

why would they want to make wolverine look younger, when wolverine doesnt really age. he's probably looked that way for many years.

I just really want to see Dead Pool nuff' said. Ryan Renolds would make a good trash talking Dead Pool then again so would the king of b-list one liners, Bruce Campbell.

Ratner was a bad selection but he was thrown into the project at the end. So we can't fully blame him.

Re: using his bone claws...In the regular MU Logan didn't know he had the bone claws until after Eric took his adamantium from him. So I say ney to the bone claws.

I lost track after House of M. Logan got his entire memory back so I'm not aware if he remembered the claws pre- Weapon-X.

I still think keeping it like "Marvel Comics Presents" would be great.

I understand Wolverine is supposed to be over 100, but how much over? His birth is conjectured to be 1892 (Origins#1). If he was there at the beach during WWII, well that was 64 years ago (June 6th 1944). I imagine him looking at least a little older in 64 years. Maybe they will digitally make him a bit younger like they did Stewart and McKellan in X-3. Either way, I'm looking forward to this film simply for all the generations they will have to film through, depending on how far they take him into the present. We will see a lot of history. I hope they show his birth or early childhood.

I feel they are using the X-Men origins moniker because there will be more introductions (hopefully) into the rest of the X-men. As far as this picture of wolverine, *YAWN*!! SHEESH, a reused photo from a past flick. If it isn't then it might as well could be. Ohhh, what a pic my foot. What a disgrace. The claws look purchased from wal-mart. Totally fake. Where is Stan Winston when you need him? (R.I.P.). With the technology out there, these claws look that bad? Come on! They don't even look like they could fit into his forearm. As far as the bone-claws. They first showed up when he was a child, not after his adamantium was removed. So a flashback should certainly show the bone. Hugh can play a nasty Wolvie, if he wants to. This I agree on. Lets see how the director drives the story. He really needs to be more feral-like, a bit more dirty looking, more instinctive, I mean this is before he had any manners, after he loses his innocence abruptly so shouldn't it be gritty and AGGRESSIVE?! Even at PG-13.

For the record: Doing Cyclops (and the rest) the way they did in X3, was just plain stupid!!!! I could repeat this to everyone I meet. What a disgrace to the franchise. UGH. REALLY TICKS ME OFF. Who does the writer think he is? If it aint broke dont fix (ruin) it. Pish!! EAT MY SHORTS!!!! After Ironman raised the bar, lets see how this performs. I think it's great that we are finally getting hero movies on the big screen, but us comic fans are PICKY PICKY PICKY. These movies should be perfect with so much material to draw from. Lets hope it's not a Superman returns debacle. 'nuff said. Excelsior, Jaymes

I'm a big fan, but this getting boring! If they have something "real" to show, fine then show it, but this is just another rehashed still.
Gimme MORE!! DAMN-IT!!

"Wolverine MAY be as old as the Professor!"

OMG!!!!!

Actually, if you had even the slightest knowledge of his past, he's way OLDER than the Professor. Infact, he's most likely around 150-200 years old.

He was born in pioneer-era Canada, just read Wolverine "Origins". Or X-Men. Or Wolverine. Or ANY comic he's been in. His name is James, and Sabertooth (Victor Creed) is his brother.

I agree with Zach, could have done something different for the promo shot, we've seen the hands crossed thing like four or five times now. How about something a little more vicious?
