The movie is extrodinary...I just saw the sneak preview on base down here in Texas but please be advised if your taking your kids. There is a sex scene with Night Owl thats pretty detailed and Mr. Manhattan has numerous scenes without bottoms on. But

In 4 days, I'll be sitting for two and a half hours...not blinking...not breathing....
Then I'll spend the next several hours...coming down.

Thank you, Zack Snyder.

Posted by: Magma on March 2, 2009 at 13:18:50

can't wait!

Posted by: Thekid on March 2, 2009 at 13:38:10

yeah the new yorker didnt seem to like it. but it felt like most of his complaints were over things that were in the book. he's pretty much saying if you don't want to see the watchmen..dont go see the watchmen.

It's a Hollywood rule of thumb that, the more something is advertised, the less confidence the studio has in the movie. They feel they have to beat the idea of having to go see a movie opening weekend into you, because they don't believe the movie is any good! The better the movie, the less they advertise, because the feel the movie will stand on it's own. From what I understand, the studio is not at all happy with the acting and pacing of the movie. Thats why they are bombarding you with commercials, spoilers and 'cool shots'...

They advertised the hell out of TDK and we all know how that turned out. That logic doesn't make sense, it's a million dollar movie and they want as many people to see it as possible, quality doesn't come into it.

Posted by: Fanboiii on March 2, 2009 at 14:13:27

I'm going to wait until the release date to read reviews. Even TDK got a bunch of negative reviews before its release date, and obviously you can't really expect TDK ratings early on.

The graphic novel itself is controversial. A bunch of these lowly critics getting in their first word might not even have done their homework, or liked to source material.

Anthony Lane of The New Yorker is nothing more than pedantic hot air by the way. Reading his last sentence really shows his own ignorance. He was expecting comedy because he thinks that's what "comic" book means. Also, he wrote "the final demolition of the comic strip." What a moron. Watchmen was a deconstruction of superheroes.. not the entire comic strip medium. Also, deconstruction is a critical approach that doesn't simply mean destroy. But, obviously he wouldn't know that since he's a hack.

Most of the reviews for this movie have been pretty bad. I hope they're wrong.

Posted by: Melies on March 2, 2009 at 14:25:33

Wonder how average viewer are gonna react to the whole "narration" of the characters.

I know I like it, since I've read the book often but...I dunno, to me, people are expecting an action movie.

Anyway, guess we'll know friday.
