Exclusive Watchmen Photo
Source:The New Frontiersman
January 28, 2009

The New Frontiersman has provided us with an exclusive image from Watchmen in which the Viet Cong troops bow down before Dr. Manhattan in the process of surrendering (photo taken June 21, 1970). We received the photo along with the following statement:

With the war in Vietnam over and America victorious, the gaze of The New Frontiersman turns to the home front. As a triumphant President Nixon looks to extend his political career beyond the constitutional limit of two four-year terms, The New Frontiersman is set to release articles, documents and footage leading up to the legislation that changed the face of America.

No freakin' way!
This movie will be fresh and hopefully do for the superhero movie world, what its graphic novel did for the comic world. It seems to me that it is going to pave new ground and do some things that have not previously been done.
I can't wait!

They certainly have done a lot to make this film appear as though it is actually a part of our history. First the viral news video and now this..

Reminds me of a Hollister Ad.. LOL.
Cool nonetheless.

At least since they are trying to give it a historic feel they are keeping the photo looking like it is from the 70's.

Vietnam right?

I wonder how he'd be recieved in India, being blue and all?

Posted by: Zork on January 28, 2009 at 19:05:54

Why is there a blue naked man in the picture?

Posted by: Johny B on January 28, 2009 at 19:10:15

Posted by: Harish on January 28, 2009 at 19:25:38

haha cool

I like how they're trying to keep it in the era (bar that they have a website lol) - the viral campaign looks to be progressively interesting, but they're gonna have to cram a LOT in over the next month to get even broader interest.

Awesome.

I agree with Honest fan
Lordy do I hope this rocks so badly. All the bases look covered but I really hope they get the pathos and Emotional weight of most of it at least respectfully enough. This Graphic novel was such a kick to the head to me. Although the word poignance gets bandied around a lot and is irritating as **** it applies to so many scenes in this book. Hope it gives Alan Moore the respect his work deserves for once.

This movie loooks almost exactly like that comic book, which is rare these days in superhero adapted comics...this movie will be a major event regardless if it does well in the box office, this has been around for over 20, and a lot of the original watchmen fans(i think ) will appreciate this

I'm so excited about this movie. It's going to be so much better than Wolverine, and it's rated R which means they're not pansying around with the emotional gravitas and violence. March can't come sooner. This year is so awesome for movies!!! AVATAR!!
