SDCC UPDATE:Wanted 2 to Start PREPRODUCTION in 8 Weeks
Source:Edward Douglas
July 23, 2009
UPDATE: Yeah, we thought Mark Millar might have been a little bit overly-exuberant about the start date for shooting the sequel to Timur Bekmambetov's 2008 hit movie based on his graphic novel Wanted. ComingSoon.net/Superhero Hype! spoke with Bekmambetov himself this morning and told him what Millar told us and he suggested Millar might have said that to be "provocative" and it's more likely that they'll be starting preproduction in 8 weeks. Considering how long preproduction and planning can take on a movie like that, they probably won't be shooting until later in the year.
While talking to Mark Millar for Kick-Ass he revealed to us that the script for Wanted 2 is complete and that they're going to start shooting in eight weeks time.
Timur Bekmambetov is returning to direct while James McAvoy will again play Wesley Gibson.
Millar told us the sequel will revolve around the international group of assassins from issues 4 and 5 from Millar's graphic novel.
The first film, made for $75 million, earned $341.4 million worldwide in theaters.

Sweet. Loved the first movie. Can't wait for the second.

Hell yeah, the first movie was awesome. Even though it didn't quite follow the graphic novel, it was still a kick ass film. The gun in the head scene at the end was pure joy and exciting to watch. I cant wait for some of the crazy things their going to do in the sequel.
p.s director Timur Bekmambetov also stated awhile ago that they found a way to bring back Angelina Jolie's character Fox, from the first film. I personally think its only going to be a cameo and most likely a flashback scene, but at least its better than nothing.

Wait, what? 8 weeks?! That's nuts, there have been rumors but 2 weeks to start shooting out of nowhere? Luckily, I never read the GN to complain about the changes or differences and thought it was a pretty good action flick. As long as Jolie doesn't come back I'm fine. Find a new hottie!!!

My bad, I meant 2 months, not weeks*

Doesn't matter, still don't care about this movie.

Just gimme the suit please.
Posted by: TheMuffin on July 24, 2009 at 00:28:39
Excellent. The game was canon for the record. So if they follow along after the game happened, Wesley has the suit. Also of note, Foxs' body was nowhere to be found in the game. The Russian made a note of that in the third level. Interesting to say the least. Can't wait to see how they tie everything together now.

Is the game worth playing?

I dont not like this movie so I took it upon myself to announce it in this comments section so that the rest of the world may now of my displeasure in this movie. Even though I could easily have just not read or posted on this section, I decided too because everyone in the world cares about my opinion.

Assassins obeying a loom is still a dumb premise... no matter how you spin it.
Ahahaha, I made a pun-ny!

SweetDyckWillie: To. You decided TO.
As for W2...it's just Nightwatch anyway.

Soulchild: I know, it sucks :-)
I LOVED the whole cast of the first movie. Morgan was great. Dunno how the heck Angelina Jolie will come back. I THINK they'll bring her back as a twin sister or a cameo. Dunno. Never read the graphic novel. Maybe I should :-)

If they play the sequel out right they can pretty much bring it as much in line with the original comic as possible. Maybe taking a few liberties to make it more badass and less nods to past comics.

Wanted 2 is going to be great with the second film's plot focusing on international terrorist groups. I know James McAvoy will be returning as Welsely Allen Gibson and Angelina Jolie as assassin fox. The domestic gross of the first Wanted film last year in 2008 with $ 75 Million. The Worldwide gross was $ 341.4 Million dollars which, is great it grossed near a half billion dollars. At the rate Wanted is going if the sequels turn out very good their could be a spinoff series.

Curve the bullet, WTF???
Why make this movie??
Posted by: Shinlyle on July 24, 2009 at 07:18:55
Ugh. They are making a sequel to a movie based off of a comic that the writer said he'd never do a sequel to....and the movie was NOTHING like the comic.
The comic was good. The movie was obviously s*** from the preview. Curving bullets and flipping cars...it's dumber than a Uwe Boll movie.
Okay, nothing is dumber than a Uwe Boll movie.

I wanted Wanted, what i got was a huge disapointment.
Posted by: BigDonte on July 24, 2009 at 11:30:54
I was entertained, but thats simply because I never read the comics...
I guess fan boys have a right to be angry, kinda like I was at wolverine (a comic I followed religiously as a young man).

first one was a joke. only went to see it out of boredom and nothing else was showing.

The Wanted movies have absolutely nothing o do with the graphic novel, I find it an insult that these movies use the Wanted title!
Oh and look Hollywood wants to milk it again. Don't bother making a movie based on a graphic novel if you are going to totally ignore the source material!

I wonder if they will present the villains from the GN also, cause that would rule.
I'd love to see Mr. Rictus, and i would really like to see the "You got one shot!"
