Chris Morgan Writing Wanted Sequel
Source:MTV
November 5, 2008

Wanted co-writer Chris Morgan tells MTV he is getting ready to pen the sequel.

According to Morgan, Universal Pictures is in the final stages of negotiating a deal with graphic novel creator Mark Millar for a sequel to the June 2008 film.

Where will the sequel pick up? Morgan says "the point is to continue the journey that Wes (James McAvoy) started in the first film. Wherever he ended up at the end of the film, now it's time to move him forward."

"There's a natural journey that Wes needs to take," he continued, adding that the sequel "is going to be opened up to be more global."

Universal has not set a release date for Wanted 2 yet.

I'm rather optimistic about the second installment.

Hmm, more greed from the money obsessed execs at hollywood. Wanted was possibly one of the worst films I have seen this year, terrible script, daft plot and matrix rip-off. The only highlight was Ms Jolie and there was not enough of her character in the film, only some ponce keanu reeves wannabe......FFS JUST LEAVE THE CRAP AS IT IS....

I'm not looking forward to it after seeing the first one...and that opinion isn't because I was expecting an exact adaptation of the comic on screen. It was just a poorly written, unimaginative screenplay that wasn't executed well.

Some of my friends loved it, though...but they also loved Ultraviolet.

I like Timur only because of the first Night Watch movie (which even that was not faithful to source material). Wanted was bad, yes. But it was bad and good at the same time. If you turn your brain off and watch it for what it was, it was a decent movie to say 'look! curving bullets!'
People who hate it are too embedded in reality to have a flashy thrill. Who cares about cerebral when you can have rat bombs?

Puleaze! Why would Whorywood even bother to consult the creator of the graphic novel? They r just going to make it any way the want. I thought the book rocked and the movie, although had some elements from it, was just a hack job. Butcher some other work of Fiction!

Really? A sequel?? I thought the crappest bit was with the train falling down. How did Wes manage to survive that? Loads of B if you ask me! Terrible! Awfull !! A disgrace to us film makers and lovers I blame the producer/ execs!! They Efd it right up!!!

I think Wanted is one of the best comic book movies out there...

...but as soon as it ended, I hoped to god they wouldn't bring out a sequel - it just wouldn't suit it. It did what it had to do.

Posted by: SoulPatch on November 5, 2008 at 18:23:18

It's called money. If the movie makes a crapload of it, then they are going to make a sequel, if possible.

Look at Saw, probably some of the worst horror movies ever made, but they keep on pumping them out because they keep making lots and lots of money. I mean, I'll be honest, if I was in their shoes, I would do the same thing.

So, hooray for greed!

Is this for real?! A sequel?! One isn't enough... you guys want more?!

Posted by: billy m on November 5, 2008 at 19:05:38

WHY! that movie was sooo badd

Posted by: Tad on November 5, 2008 at 20:44:08

I think if we all just accepted that the first Wanted was not the graphic novel, more people here would have liked it. That said, I think the sequel could be good as long as they don't get carried away with it, as most sequels do.

I hope that they put him in his Snake-eyes outfit. I think more people will get into the title if they showed the superhero side of the story. As you can see from Ironman and Batman everyone loves heros in costumes. Later true believers.

I'll tell you what's 'WANTED':
1. Less sequels, better firsts (i.e. Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, The Brady Bunch Movie, etc...).
2. Less actors who skate by on one decent performance and then half-a$$ it through all the others (i.e. Angelina Jomamma, and Mr. Tumnus).
3. A casting director who understands that we're over-using the same African-American actors(i.e. Morgan Freeman, Samuel Jackson).
4. An outstanding job on a graphic novel, please just once,(with the exception of 300 of course, and hurry up and bring on Watchmen).
5. An 'In-&-Out Burger' in the Mid-West.
6. Some decent banter on the SUPERHEROHYPE Boards.
7. Someone to 're-start', 're-do', or basically just 're-vamp' the old "Different Strokes" television show. Perhaps they could cast Morgan Freeman and Samuel Jackson as Willis and Arnold?
