It was no "Throw Mama from the Train" but it still was a pretty good movie. Not as bad as you all make it out to be.

It will never beat the Dark Knight Domestically. Lets be realistic about this people. Worldwide...meh, it has a chance but I doubt it. We'll see when it gets to day 230 in theaters. As for the better movie, its the Dark Knight. Anyone who says different is the type of person who says "OOOOOOH Shiny" when I pull out my car keys and dangle them in front of their face
Posted by: get over it on July 27, 2009 at 01:05:33
it will never beat Titanic either! and neither will TDK!
ppl who reference TDK all the time are idiots. if your gonna throw that in, might as well throw in Titanic also. lame.

and you're right cutting glass, it wasnt as bad as everyone makes it out to be but youve got to admit the amount of plot holes in this thing like how the hell did all those ppl in the first movie forget about the giant battle in the middle of the city? I guess the military employs the Men in Black lol

minish_cap, who in the world is saying this movie is better than The Dark Knight? I'll tell you this, no one who seriously believes it....
As for your supposed plot hole, the cover up wasn't intended on being perfect as you saw in the movie where Sam's roomies were well aware of it all.

Still talking about this horrible movie?, Hancock is the worst summer movie.
By the way aren't you also still talking about the movie?
Posted by: Fart-bot on July 27, 2009 at 02:21:08
Apparently humping dogs, humping robots, farting robots, moms eating drugged brownies, cussing robots, and robot testicles make a successful summer blockbuster.
If only the movie itself were as good as the CG. Seriously people, take the CG out, remove Optimus Prime, and you have a one hell of a crap movie with constantly bickering actors. Those who say the movie's good absolutely cannot see past that. Blinded by beauty, as it were.
You know what's sad? I'm a huge TF fan and Optimus Prime rocks, but even I can see this movie blows. I am upset that I paid for it, and am thoroughly embarrassed that these are the only live-action TF movies we're gonna get.
Not buying the DVD.

Take the cg out & what do you have? What kind of comment is that? Take the cg out & you simply don't have a movie!! That was the whole point of a movie about giant robots!! People wanted to see lots of action, Megan Fox, and giant robots!! Take the cg out, man!!
Posted by: Fart-bot on July 27, 2009 at 03:38:09
@ madeye
You miss the point, madeye, and I admit that was some lazy phrasing on my part so I see how you can easily miss the point.
The point is, paraphrased for easier comprehension, is that the film looked great with its first-class CG, but was insultingly stupid. It's a shame a lot of people don't realize that. It's like how a magician who does a magic trick and the audience easily gets wowed.
A movie about giant robots, while stupid in concept, doesn't have to be stupid. Just like how a movie about a man who dresses up a bat doesn't have to be stupid.

@jay s
You're only making yourself look like an idiot by typing ALL CAPS.
And I agree with everything that "Still talking about this horrible movie?" said. Only people wuth I.Q.s of less than 40 could actually think that this was even an okay movie. Michael Bay is treating you all like idiots, OPEN YOUR EYES!

why this movie made so much money is still a mystery to me.I mean come on 800 million for this movie?i completely agree with someone who said that if you take out the cgi this movie is just horrible without a story or decent characters.I'm a transformers fan since 87' and even though i enjoyed the first movie this one was ridiculous.Oh and please people stop with tdk references all the time.Everyone loved the movie but you need to stop force feeding us this movie all the time and quit already with the whole total gross of these movies.Money in the box office doesn't equal a good movie.Does anyone know how much money wolverine made?(another ****ty movie)

I love how some of us take the time to read this forum, make their posts, say they're 'Transformers fans from way back when, blah blah blah' but decide to paint Michael Bay as a unfeeling childhood raper (boring, next line please) and b*tch about what Bay AND producers (the money-men - his *bosses*) AND Hasbro(the licence *owner*), all deemed good enough to release. In other words, Mr Bay is not the be-all and end-all to this movie's existence. And $800 million worldwide says that people like it enough to go see it, several times, probably. So what if it doesn't beat TDK or Titanic? It's making its own records and probably doesn't give a rat's a$$ about any competitions or sweepstakes the fan-boys are running. I do wonder about the attitude some people display on this forum towards certain elements of the movie - it all seems to be a bit generic. I've seen it twice and couldn't see any plotholes...not saying it's perfect, but what exactly are people complaining about? The humping and farting might be a slight irritation, but why so serious? 'Devastator's balls' is funny, tho..let's be honest. I'm sure lots of y'all laughed when you saw that, I know the audience I was in did! Soundwave isn't a frontline fighter, really. Go look at any of the animated series and count how many times he engages in combat or has the cassettes do it while he directs/co-ordinates from the back. Speaking of which... how many animated versions of transformers have there been? And were the characters the same in each one? No. *Some* elements remained the same, but there *are* variations in personality and character traits from series to series...so why shouldn't the movie series follow suit? It's obviously not an exact live action version of G1 or any other series, so why oh why should we expect everything as such? Oh, and speaking of personalities, totally agree with CeeJayNightwing. I do not believe the twins aren't meant to be anything other than 'street' - what possible reason other than prejudice and ignorance could there be for automatically assuming that they're a black stereotype? Wouldn't such an assumption say more about the assumer than anything else? Just another point of view, folks...accentuate the positive from time to time. It makes life more bearable :)
BTW, I used to run home from school everyday to watch Transformers and GI Joe. I'm just glad that these movies have been made and that I'm able to see them!

Its funny how a movie will cause so much contraversy when it lacks any substance at all. How anybody defends this film is beyond me. Really cool cgi work was all I got from it, but I really liked the first Transformers movie. This movie seem to take everything I didn't like about the first and multiply it. People either really liked this movie or hated. It parted the audience like the Red Sea. I don't know if I could watch another sequel; one could definitely get their fill of dogs humping and fart videos from youtube.

What I don't get is why people need to insult other's intelligence just because they like something different. I love both Transformers films. They have problems, they could have been made better, but you can say that about practically every movie. The creators of this movie, for whatever reason, chose to make these movies silly, exciting and fun. Could they be made more intelligent? Perhaps, but why do they have to be? It’s very narrow-minded to think that only one sort of movie is good. Frankly, I think the path they chose fits the old series better than anything else. I know I enjoy a deep, thought-provoking piece but not every movie has to be this way, especially in an industry which relies on visual stimulation. You don’t have to like them, but casting them off as bad just because you don’t is incredibly short-sighted.
As a fan of the show I think these movies are great, as a general film fan I see a few problems, mainly with editing. But this movie, unlike many in recent years, does not, as some put, treat its audience like idiots; it has a coherent plot, good characters and excellent action with thought put behind it. One may not like these elements, but the fact is that they are there. They're not revolutionary or particularly deep, but they don't try to be - as opposed to other film projects which take themselves very seriously but fail to deliver (like T4, for example).
And even though I love TDK and it is a superior movie to Transformers 2 on many levels, it is still an overrated movie. It has an awful ending that really breaks the plot down as they try to culminate the movie into a notion which I’m sure looked great on paper but didn’t really work.
And I liked how one person here said that taking the effects and Optimus Prime out of the movie it would be terrible. Does that comment make any real sense? Taking any core element of any movie would make it bad. How about taking the joker out of TDK? I mean, seriously, that comment doesn't mean anything. The movie is what it is.

If you want to get an idea as to where TF2 will end up domestically, it's weekend numbers from the second weekend on have been almost exactly the same as Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which made 27 million overall after it's fifth weekend in theaters. Going by that, TF2 would end up with about 406 Million overall domestically, give or take. That's just a guesstimate based on it's current path though.

"Who cares? film sucked! 1st? "
Funny, I said the same thing after I saw TDK at the theaters. Hmmm...

I laugh at all the people who seem to complain about transformers and comparing it to TDK as if TDK was the best movie which was not regardless how much it made. Problem is doesn't matter what movie comes out it always has flaws and mistakes, also plot holes. I give credit to Michael Bay in making TF movies and might not have been the best but at least it was done. I mean people have the time to type a huge paragraph but lets face the facts, it's what sells. Hollywood can care less on what you write on these forums or what fans have to say as long as the movie makes its budget money who cares!. Example, G-force beats harry potter to first place and people had high expectations that harry 6 would of made a billion or made over 500million or more, but it didn't it flunked. You can brag about how it is worst but you don't have the money or the resource to make it better. It's done and it made its money, glad it did. Next movie~
