Rodriguez to Have Bigger Role in Transformers 3
June 30, 2009
The Los Angeles Times has published an article on Ramon Rodriguez, who plays Leo Spitz in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. It sounds like he'll be back for the third installment:
Director Michael Bay has a third "Transformers" film in mind, and if it plays out as he expects, the next installment would have a more substantial role for Rodriguez. The filmmaker, speaking at his office a few weeks before "Revenge of the Fallen" was released, seemed to have some pride of discovery when talking about Rodriguez.
"I've worked with big stars, people like Will Smith, Sean Connery and Bruce Willis, but casting is a weird thing, it takes you places you don't expect," Bay said. "We went looking for a sidekick in this movie, Shia's sidekick, and we find this new kid who really pops on screen. I think he’s going to have a real bright career. It's great to work with big stars, but it's always fun to discover people."

I wasn't blown away by him. Actually, I wouldn't have cared if he'd never been there at all. He had a few funny parts but served no real purpose. I'll still watch Transformers 3, though! I love the crap out of those movies, even with all their flaws!

Oh god no! there was way too much of him in this film already...please don't make the third one 90% comedy!
more like 5% would be nice..

He was the most annoying prick in this movie. Made the film that much worse than it already was. Michael Bay, you've already helped launch two bright careers with these giant robot movies, please leave Leo Spitz out of the franchise moving forward. And while you're at it, hold on another until there's a real story to tell.

Did Michael Bay say Transformers 3?
I'm in!!!!
What's the ETA on the next one Michael?
Posted by: Verball on June 30, 2009 at 11:01:50
Yeah that was easily the most forgettable part of the movie. If he wasn't in the next one, I would never even remember he was there to begin with. Hmmm would I rather see that guy or the Dinobots? Let me think? Duh!!
Posted by: bc on June 30, 2009 at 11:03:49
he made the movie a little funnier . Rodriguez also helped define how the govement was hiding the transformers from the public

You have got to be kidding me!
Really?
This guy was NOTHING special. I absolutely cannot believe that one of his lines was,
"Can I at least watch?"
Is anyone else sick of this minute update cr@p? Apparently, everyone at SHH took the day off yesterday, and today we get this "remarkable" update: That some nobody is going to be resigned for a movie that won't come out for another three years. Sheesh.
Really?

I like how most of the people on here are tearing this movie apart. It's not supposed to be like the cartoon or your comics from the 80's guys. I'm 23 years old so yeah, i watched the cartoon and to be quite honest it sucked!! I would put it on and just play with the toys anyway. So why don't you just accept this movie for what it is and that is a good time. And stop *****ing about every little detail like the lack of screen time for Soundwave.

this guy was a little annoying but i still loved the movie.

Comic relief at best...
But Unicron better be in the third movie...and Galvitron.

@ Coopz
It's not about comparisons of it to the cartoon of the 80s. It's about expecting some quality in more than the "oh look bright shiny object" mentality. it's about not cowtowing to hollywood producers who want to lower standards and expectations of the movie-going audiences.
it's about not being satisfied with garbage. it's about respect.

this douchebag??????? more screen time??? he was the most annoying thing in this series to date, more annoying than anthony Anderson and Sam's parents combined....ughh!
I mean nothing in this franchise has a point but you can atleast pull one out your ass and people will accept it, put this lame has no point, and serves no purpose. he's not even funny!!!! douchebag.

Super just what I wanted in TF3, another bumbling idiot human taking more screen time and character development away from the actual Transformers.

This kid was one of the worst parts of the movie. Incredibly irritating throughout. Hated him. The flick has some great points, but this kid is one of its weakest. I was hoping they were only keeping him around to kill him off, since it's obvious that the characters should've left him at college.

more of another forgetable human that adds nothing to the story.
and this movie dosn't need to be just like the cartoon, but why even pay for the rights to somthing if it isn't good enough for you to keep it vaugly recognizable.
more importantly its a crapy movie, it not much futher from the show in that it took the iq of an 8 year old to write and direct it. so don't forget the quality of theis crap fest as a movie. its a half assed action movie, it rediculous so its not like cuting out details from the show make of a higher in quality.
and shows how they are hideing them?
they destroid a major city in the first one, and no one got them on a camera, every cell phone in america has a camera, and video. look at all the 9/11 footage. giant robots would get recorded and you have millions of witnesses. acting like they are a secret makes no sense.
but i forget who directed it, and the fact that they lured the decepticons into a major city, i supose just for the human sheild factor. was a tactical manuver

He was awesome in "Revenge Of The Fallen". Definitely bring him back in the third installment.

@ Bring on Thor
um...cheering or laughing for an annoying character to get tased is not the same as liking the character or actor. it means the audience wanted to see him hurt.
you want genuine like? look at fans reactions to Bumblebee in the first movie. that's connection.

The Revenge of the Fallen is an AMAZING movie. It's a great sequel and it continues the action rythm of the first one. The battle on the desert is Magnificent. Troops mixed with Autobots against the Decepticons and seeing Starscream scouting the skies like that just took my breath away just like Sound Wave controlling everything from above. I think the twins are cool characters and i think like Rodriguez and Turturro that kind of action needs to have characters that can relax the audience for a laugh on some moments. Optimus Prime is amazing on the movie and as i already said Michael Bay has five stars on this epic adventure that he begun on Transformers. And the transforming sounds so nostalgic. Just Brilliant.Keep it up and Congratulations. AUTOBOTS ROLL OUT...

If he's in it, I won't be going to see it in the theater. I wouldn't be going to see it anyway after this one. Burn, Hollywood, burn!

And I don't mind comedy in an action movie if it's smart. The comedy in this movie was dumb and unnecessary.
Posted by: jon t boy on June 30, 2009 at 11:58:50
ramon did a good for what the movie needed
he was the regular guy who had an idea
that there was a coverup of something
but not the whole idea down
where everyone else in the movie knows about them and just accepts what they are
this one guy tried to pull it back to reality as much as bay could cause if everyone knows
why would they need to hide and transform?
Posted by: Flex on June 30, 2009 at 12:01:06
Hey Mike, u can blow this kid on your own time, we dont want any more of him.. he was almost as annoyin as the twin robots. More Transformer story/plot... less no talent sidekicks

Listen, whiners. All you guys do is do is complain about the most minute details. I'm 34 for God's sake. I grew up with the original cartoon and LOVED IT! I saw the original animated move in theatres and LOVED IT! I still have my original toys in my basement. To say I'm a fan is an understatement. Now all you guys that claim to be fans and dis these live action movies need to realize that making these robots look like their original templates would be rediculous. It would look like Wisconsin cheese factory. Also anyone going to see an Oscar worthy movie should wait for the next Daniel Day Lewis movie. The only awards these may win are for special effects. I loved these movies, faults and all, and hope Unicron is used in a 3rd movie. It's only logical. Bottom line to all you haters: "SHUT THE HELL UP!"
