Transformers 2 Set Report From Dulles, VA!

Scooper 'drx' has provided Superhero Hype! with the following Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen set report from Dulles, Virginia (Spoilers ahead!):

I've got a first-hand Transformers 2 set report from Friday.

The misinformation machine continues to roll for TF2. News was that TF2 would be filming in DC for a few days. Got a call from my buddy at 4pm yesterday that they were filming at the Air and Space Museum, no not the one in DC, the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum by Dulles Airport in Dulles, VA (30 -40 mins outside DC).

My friend and I quickly left work and headed over to the museum because it was only 5 minutes away. We arrived there and there was nothing to really indicate that filming was going on, it was very low-key. Found them filming inside and the only way you could tell it was for TF2 was from the crew's badges (an Autobot logo followed by the number 2).

Met up with our buddy and watched a few scenes being filmed. Saw Michael Bay filming, but couldn't make out what was going on too well because they kept us back far enough. Museum security and crew were heavily guarding the area from people taking photos. My buddy said Shia and Megan Fox were there earlier filming some scenes and Shia would be back soon. We finally saw what looked like Shia dressed in an old time pilots outfit (think aviator goggles and a white scarf around the neck). He was standing between a pillar and a mannequin dressed like him, along with several other mannequins dressed in different pilot outfits. They repeatedly filmed a security guard running by as Shia reached out and put a taser to his neck and the guard would fall to the ground.

We chatted with a crew member and he mentioned how not many people knew they were there and that they had been filming there since Thursday. At the time we were there, they were filming around the SR-71 Blackbird. I don't know how legit this is, but the crew member said that the Blackbird is going to be featured very prominently in the film, but that people aren't really supposed to know that. So if true, let the speculation begin as to what Transformer this will be.

They continued filming the taser scene as the museum closed and we were ushered outside. The crew member also mentioned they would be going outside to film some scenes in the parking lot later. So when we got outside we found the coned-off parking lot with a few cars sitting huddled together under tarps. One was clearly Bumblebee, the rims and parts of the yellow bumper were visible. There was also a lime green car. From the look of the shape and the front bumper I would guess that it is either a Toyota Matrix or a Scion xA, but I'm probably wrong. The third car had a very strange shape and I could not make it out.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get close enough to the cars to get decent pictures on my camera phone. We waited around for a while but by 6:15 we had to leave. They were still inside at that time so we didn't get to see the new cars actually being filmed.

So there you have it. They are filming there again today and I plan on going back to check out some more. I'll be sure to send along anything new I find out.

Oh, one last thing, Michael Bay flew to the Museum (which has its own runway) and there on the runway sat a white plane with the Autobots logo on the tail. Pretty freakin' cool. Can't remember if he had that during filming for the first one, but he's got it now!

NIce. Cant wait

Posted by: Zahin on June 8, 2008 at 01:23:18

You mentioned a green car. It could be BRAWL or LANDMINE... I guess we will wait and see

Posted by: calvan4 on June 8, 2008 at 01:28:46

This is stupid, just wait for the movie to come out. If we are on set with TF everyday, we will pretty much see the movie before it comes out, minus the SFX of course. What happened to the element of surprise?

THIS SUCKS, WHERE'S THE PEEING AND JERKING OFF JOKES???? WHAT ABOUT AFRICAN AMERICAN AUTOBIZZOTZ?

calvan4
I dont think were gonna be spoiled by knowing locations. What cars were there. Im excited about this movie and love the little bits and pieces we keep getting.

Posted by: shockquake on June 8, 2008 at 03:44:33

I think what calvan4 meant when he say element of surprise is not knowing what new cars, what new planes or what new characters that are going to be in TF2.

For TF1, I never read anything like this on the internet and I went into the movie blind as a bat and not knowing what to expect. I think it's the element of surprise that made the movie great for me.

I just new other car companies would jump on.

Now here come the ridiculously stupid remarks from all the pissed off fan-boys that were griping that the first one was "just a commercial for GM"......

Bring it On!!!!

Posted by: dragonball fan on June 8, 2008 at 06:34:22

I read somewhere that Jetfire will be a decepticon but he is all ways supposed to be a autobot

Posted by: dragonball fan on June 8, 2008 at 06:37:59

Also the SR-71 Blackbird is Jetfire

Posted by: SprSaiyan on June 8, 2008 at 09:45:10

My thoughts Blackbrid=Jetfire It will be better than the first, although I don't know if that's possible.

Posted by: Johnny Boy on June 8, 2008 at 10:24:31

Dragonball - Actually if I remember correctly from the cartoons, Jetfire was a Decepticon first. He was found trapped in ice by some Autobots and changed sides... so he wasn't always an Autobot.

Anyone else remember this, or am I remembering incorrectly?

argh...I live about 20 minutes from that location!

I am going out there today to see if I can catch anything going on but since I just learned of this today , I doubt it will be anything left to take pictures of.

What transformers would everyone like to appear? Id like to see Beachcomber as an altered Dodge Nitro

Posted by: darktim on June 8, 2008 at 11:37:55

Cool well they were in Washington first might as well go back and film there. And the transformer who I want to see would be soundwave.

Posted by: Mack 5 on June 8, 2008 at 12:13:40

Too funny! I was just at the museum on Wed. to see 'Speed Racer' on the IMAX screen (which was wicked fun by the way!). I wish I would've delayed it by one day to see the filming.

"Are we going to have to sit through a report everyday of this lame movie or is this just part of Bay's "mis-information" effort?"

No, Wyne. Just don't click on the link to the news anytime it says Transformers 2. That way you won't "have" to read up on it. But on the downside, then you can't get in those remarks about how much you didn't like the first movie, and we all know you "have" to have those also.

Posted by: zeroXII on June 8, 2008 at 12:33:05

Maybe all this talk of the SR71 being Jetfire is misinformation. For all we know, it could actually be Soundwave.

I'll i'm saying is i ain't biting.

I know that this has nothing to do with Transformers but trying to get on a site to comment about Battlestar Galactica ( new series of course) is proving impossible. This is to all you big bosses at those money making Film Studios, MAKE BATTLESTAR GALACTICA IN TO A MOVIE ITS A SURE ($ WIN £ £ WIN $) SITUATION in other words dont be stingy with the money

Posted by: Naftali on June 8, 2008 at 12:56:27

Man I could have been there, I'm like 10 minutes away! Oh well the hype is gettin hyped baby.

Posted by: OutcryX on June 8, 2008 at 13:32:41

Don't the X-Men have a Blackbird?

I smell a CROSSOVER!!

Posted by: Batzarro on June 8, 2008 at 13:34:55

My point being: You've already stated you do not like the last movie. You've stated you won't see the next one. You do not "have" to read anything on a sequel to movie you did not like. Continue on your normal life. You made your point. But you continue to do so. The point is, It's a slow news day and Transformers 2 stuff is being reported. But if you wanted to, you could, I dunno...avoid it altogether? It's not being forced on you.

"Sorry if we can't all drink the kool-aid and sucker up to this crappy version of The Transformers like you have. Some of us want a good movie."

I don't want you to drink no Kool-Aid or Hi-C or whatever other powdered drink you like. I'm not asking you to like the damn movie. I am simply stating that the amount of information you get on a movie is mostly your choice. Missinformation information, why would you care about how much there is? Your mind seems pretty made up. But if you CAN'T stop yourself clicking the the words "Transformers 2" then you have to "sucker up to" the amount of information there is available on it. No more no less.
