UPDATE: Hasbro has confirmed the subtitle on its official site.

Transformers 2 producer Don Murphy on his official message board has posted a link to this site where they are claiming that DreamWorks/Paramount released the full title for the sequel yesterday, although we didn't hear anything from the studio on Wednesday. They say it's titled "Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen."

In related news, TFW2005.com has posted a big gallery of new photos of the Bethlehem, Pennsylvania filming. Check those out here.

TransformersLive.blogspot.com also says that "Degrassi: The Next Generation" star Nina Dobrev has landed a role as a university student.

Revenge of the Fallen? Even in comic book movies they don't stay dead.

...couldnt they come up with a better title..?

Posted by: kanyeze on June 5, 2008 at 11:42:23

Has to be a Bay false plant. "Revenge of the Fallen" is a horrible subtitle but nice stand-alone...

"Revenge of the Fallen"

"The Phantom Menace"

Doesn't sound so bad now, does it?

because "The Empire Strikes Back" was already taken

I just hope they have more robots, more action, and less mugging for the camera from Shia.

Posted by: Primus on June 5, 2008 at 11:57:20

Geez, no "Robots in Disguise" or "More than meets the eye"? That would have been nice...

reference to galvatron maybe?

Remember the report about "Jazz" been seen on the set. "Revenge of the Fallen" may not be a pretty title, but it makes sense.

Posted by: Nice Guy Joey on June 5, 2008 at 12:14:38

I'm a Source!!!! Yay!!!

Personally I think the subtitle is a "fake out". Time will tell.

Posted by: Jonathan on June 5, 2008 at 12:29:45

This is surely a Bay false tactic because he wants everybody to comment on it and get upset. I am sure the premise of TF2 will be "revenge of the fallen," but that is not what the banners will say on movie posters.
However, think about this: we have been reading for about a week that Jazz's car has been spotted on the sets in PA. Maybe Jazz gets re-built by the Decepticons and turns evil?!

Revenge of the fallen how corny they should go with Transformers 2:Revenge of the Decepticons

I mean it was a good movie really just cause it didnt please nerds like yourselves it pleased everyone else. If any of you tried to make this movie it would just be a nerd fest.

"revenge of the fallen" ... very original

/sarcasm

Posted by: Stedinator on June 5, 2008 at 12:35:42

Actually the Fallen is a transformers character, one of the first created (in the tf chronology) so it's a pretty decent title tbh

Posted by: bigchiefward on June 5, 2008 at 12:37:50

the fallen is a character form the dw comics he is one of the 13 original transformers created by primus he fell to the dark side so to speak and became a herald of unicron

Posted by: A-Dog on June 5, 2008 at 12:38:47

Just keep it Transformers 2, for all our sakes..
Revenge of the Fallen doesn't sound right for Transformers.

Wow, I really had no idea people were this obsessed with transformers...If all it takes is a rumored title to rouse this much anger I wonder what will happen when actual production info starts rolling out...

I leave my criticisms until I see the final product with this. I wasn't over joyed with the level of humans in the first one, but I have to say I don't think the movie would have been as big of a hit without them. It was needed to reach out to the wider movie going base. As much as us hard-core Transformers fans go, I think some of us just need to cool off and not be so up in arms about things. As much as I wish they kept more true to the Generation 1 material, I know they have over 25 years of stuff to go with. My only hope is that they don't pull the same crap like they did with the story arc of Anderson and Taylor's characters. They were left in longer than they were needed and just muddled up the rest of the film. I know others will protest, but sometimes you just need to write characters out for the better of the story. As for this title, their is always the possibility of it being changed before release. It happens all the time so I wouldn't be surprise if it does.

cool production photos though, Bay has a nack for creating great visual images. that factory looks like a great place for a robot brawl

Posted by: Griffin73 on June 5, 2008 at 12:52:48

If you know anything about the comics, this is a gateway to an unexplored history that could be very cinematic. I hope they use The Fallen from the War Within series. That would be amazing. I think is a great title.
