MakingOf.com talked to actress Aubrey Plaza ("Parks and Recreation") about playing Julie Powers in director Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World. In the interview, which you can watch using the player below, Plaza shares her experiences from the casting process to working with DP Bill Pope ("The Matrix") and life on-set.
The film, based on Bryan Lee O'Malley's graphic novel, stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as the dream woman of a young slacker (Michael Cera). The only way he can win her heart is by battling and defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends. Chris Evans, Brandon Routh, Kieran Culkin, Brie Larson, Mae Whitman, Ellen Wong, Anna Kendrick, Mark Webber, Alison Pill and Satya Bhabha co-star.
I have a very difficult time picturing Cera in that role. It will require occasional excitement from a guy who has made his career by being comically unexciting.

Why is Chris Evans always cast in nothing other than comic book adaptations? First it was as Human Torch in the "Fantastic Four" franchise, then it was in "Push," then "Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World," and now he's filming "The Losers." Does he like this type of material or what?

Well he was cast in Sunshine. That was no comic adaption.

I think this movie will be great! I have no doubts at all when Edgar Wright is in the driver's seat!

all the characters have been perfectly casted in my opinion, all except for cera. I liked him in a few movies, but as Bob says, He doesn't seem to do excitement very well. Let's hope he actually tries in this role to vary his vocal capacity, not keep it all monotone as he seems to do.

Aubrey Plaza's babbling makes me doubt her acting abilities, but maybe she can deliver lines and I'm just picky.
