Lasseter on Ant-Man and The Incredibles 2
September 13, 2009
ComingSoon.net attended the D23 Expo on Sunday where Disney•Pixar's John Lasseter talked about the Ant-Man rumor and gave an interesting response to a question about The Incredibles 2:
Following his presentation this morning at Anaheim's D23 Expo, John Lasseter held a press conference, fielding questions about upcoming projects, including dismissing a rumor that Pixar may be looking at Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and offering a sly "no comment" on potential sequels to other Pixar properties.
"I had met all the folks from Marvel a couple of times and they're terrific," says Lasseter, a man of few words regarding Pixar's interest in Marvel properties, "The whole 'Ant-Man' thing is just a rumor."
Lasseter also played it coy with another question, asking whether or not the future might hold sequels to Monsters, Inc. or The Incredibles.
"That's a great question," says Lasseter, "Unfortunately, I can't answer that question... We're very excited about the ones that we've announced."

The Incredibles was a great film, but lets face it... It stole Watchmen's plot, dumbed it down, and added some amazing locations and action sequences.

Um..scuse me...but the Incredibles came out before Watchmen did. Watchmen ripped off the Incredibles. Think before you speak.

...and made it fun to watch. The fallen hero theme has been around forever, Alan Moore did not come up with idea.
Besides, you didn't say first, so your opinion doesn't count.

Are you kidding? It had nothing to do with the Watchmen's plot. The only thing somewhat similar was that there were some retired superheroes. With the Incredibles, they got married and wanted to start a family. It turned into a movie about a superhero family that had to save the world.
If anything, they were more like the Fantastic Four. But even this movie was original in some of its own ways.

Oooo, Doofus, your name fits. Watchmen was written back in the 80's.

Doofus, tell me you were kidding, PLEASE! You can't be so stupid to not know about the Watchmen graphic novel, only one of the most incredible stories ever WRITTEN! By the way, the graphic novel came out over two DECADES (a decade is 10 years, by the way) before the Incredibles movie!

I agree 100% with Doofus
Also;
• Superman was a total ripoff of "Hancock"
• Batman: 100% stolen from "Darkwing Duck"
• Adams Family absolutely copied The Munsters...

I'm relieved to hear that a Pixar AntMan movie was only a rumor. And while Monsters Inc. is my second favorite Pixar film (right after Wall-E), I don't how a sequel would work, considering how the first one ended. They ought to leave well enough alone. Toy Story, The Incredibles and A Bug's Life seem ripe for sequels, though. But sequels or no, I hope Pixar keeps cranking out quality movies for a long time to come.

I bet "Doofus" was acting.
The part of the "Watchmen" that was borrowed by the "Incredibles" was actually done previously in a late 70's DC book that said the reason for the JSA disbanding was anti-hero legislation in the 1950's.

"Toy Story 3" is in the works, isn't it?

Watchmen came out in 1985, way before the incredibles. but they definitely didn't rip them off.

Doofus is surely a joke. He/she called his/herself doofus and then said something stupid.
I'm assuming everyone has played into their hands there.

of course just thow out the kiddy disney thing again. yeah its a kids movie doesn't mean its inferior to adult movies.

To clarify :
There were some similarities in the Watchmen and Increidbles plot, although the big picture was COMPLETELY different. There were no talk of politics and nuclear war in Incredibles..it was a simple entertaining story.
And for all the Watchmen naysayers too, stop throwing red flags over this, like Jack said, Alan Moore didn't invent the friggin genre...
I think an Incredibles sequel would be awesome considering the way it ended. UNDERMINER!!
Toy Story 3 is currently in production, and on a fast track to a Summer 2011(I think) release.
Clarified.

I see Doofus lives up to his name. Watchmen is a graphic novel written waaaay back in the eighties... though I don't see much comparison with the plot for The Incredibles.

Boy. How fast we jump to sound smart or cool. You're all idiots if you're correcting someone for the 100th time.
Arguing on the Internet is like competing in the special olympics. Even if you win you're still retarded.
This isn't even news! "this just in: John Lasseter says nothing about anything!" I was so dying to find that out.
Incredibles was about 14 times better than Watchmen anyways.

Yo The Truth:
not to argue with you but come on:
"Arguing on the Internet is like competing in the special olympics. Even if you win you're still retarded. "
Not very PC nowadays. You need to think before you type.
