Morgan Freeman Joining Willis in Red
July 19, 2009
Variety says that Morgan Freeman is in talks to star opposite Bruce Willis in Summit Entertainment's espionage thriller Red, based on the WildStorm/DC Comics title.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian are producing with DC executive Gregory Noveck serving as executive producer. Brothers Erich Hoeber and Jon Hoeber are writing the script.
"Red" was originally written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by Cully Hamner. The three-book series, published in 2003 and 2004, tells the story of a former black-ops CIA agent now living a quiet life in retirement until the day a high-tech assassin shows up intent on killing him.

Who is Morgan Freen anyway?
DC Comics & WB Studios are usually good with movies, so "Red" with these A+ actors should be good. It sounds actiony & these dudes are action.
In conclusion since I have 2 posts at the top of the page, I use my new found powers to now & LOL FOREVER change his name to Morgan Freen.
So now I didn't have a typo. HA take that!

In a slight move of fate or irony, the first post says that, "hope he keeps working forever". Notice the FOREVER!!!!!
Morgan Freeman is very talented.
Seven, Unforgiven, & Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves are some of his best movies. Watch them if you haven't.
-Morgan Freen is good too.

Morgan Freeman and Bruce Willis talk about great teamup in a Wildstorm/DC Comics title film. This is like Denzel Washington and John Travolta in The Taking of Pelham 123 movie that came out in mid to late June this year. This, will be Morgan Freeman's second appearance in a DC Comics film after The Dark Knight in 2008. Morgan Freeman is a Academy Award Winner and I have been a fan of his for a long time. Glory, Driving Miss Daisy, Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves, The Bucket List, Seven, Batman Begins, and so on.

Wow. Nice cast. I'm gonna have to check this out.

Forever is a herb. And this movie sounds about as dumb as everything Willis has done in the last few years. I'm so sick of films billed as "spy chases spy" or "spy framed for treason and has to prove innocence". that is the basis for every other action movie lately. BORING!

@ M. Bison Your movie knowledge is astounding! Really, The Taking of Pelham 123 come out in "mid to late June this year"? Could you have been more vague?! It was released June 12th. Further, this will be Freeman's 4th DC appearance after Batman Begins, Wanted (Vertigo is subsiduary of DC), and The Dark Knight. But hey! Thanks for coming out M. Bison! Really.

Wait a minute. Didn't Silvester Stallone and Antonio Bandaris star in a film like this bakc in the 90's called "Asassins" This was done before. Same tired scripts. I need to submit my ideas for a movie, because this is ridiculous!!
Posted by: Old Gregg on July 20, 2009 at 13:44:06
Sometimes these premises are so vague. I'm sure it'll be a good movie with both Willis and Freeman involved, but the whole former CIA agent till someone tries to kill him thing is a little over-played. But, like I said, I'm sure it'll be a good movie with the talent involved.
On a totally unrelated topic, M. Bison is just weird!

@ Big Pine: Assaaains was a Wachowski Brothers story, not based on any comic. Stallone's part was not a retired spy, but a soon to be retired hitman. That being said, Willis and Freeman are a far better combination of acting ability the Stallone and Banderas, neither of whom can speak clear English nor truly act.

the whole time i red the comic, i was thinking that Bruce Willis could play this role easily. Its like it was written for him.
and Morgan Freeman enhances any movie. He must be the new NSA director.

"forever" get a life dude your never first when you write that your first, sheesh. I love dc comics but the wildstorm imprint was just a favor to jim lee to keep him from going to marvel. This movie could be ok i guess, 2 good actors at least.
Posted by: deacon on July 21, 2009 at 10:09:51
Is this suppose to be drama. I mean c'mon both of these actors if add up their age would reach a hundred years old. Just how much action pack they will provide; this movie can offer.
Plus like i said, they both are aging, who would bother to kill him that badly till using high tech stuff?
I'm sure anybaddies should easily take them down.
