Cam Gigandet Joins Paul Bettany in Priest

Cam Gigandet will star opposite Paul Bettany in Priest, a horror Western that Scott Stewart is directing for Screen Gems, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Adapted by Cory Goodman from a TokyoPop comic book, Priest is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires and follows a warrior priest (Bettany) who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece.

Gigandet plays a young wasteland sheriff who is part vampire. He partners with Bettany to save the girl he loves, the niece. That latter part has yet to be cast.

Cashing in on Jonah Hex/Supernatural Western premise is Priest! Bettany is awesome but I can't say the same for this Cam dude

Considering the plot for this movie is ENTIRELY DIFFERENT from the Tokyo Pop graphic novel series it is based on, why did they even bother calling it by the same name? They took out 75% of the characters, and renamed the main character!! It really makes little sense to me at all why hollywood sees fit to even do this...

3rd and this movie will suck.

I would also like to compare it to other movies. Before the thread gets too long here is a list of movies that this movie wont be better than:

Wow SweetDyckWillie,

No explanation as to why it will suck. Just to be clear, you're comparing a movie that hasn't come out yet( or has a teaser trailer for that matter) with two things 1) movies that have come out and 2) a movie that hasn't come out either. You're stating it as a fact which makes no sense whatsoever. Iron Man 2 has a great cast but the Shiz could still hit the fan in a bad way. You can't just make assumptions without backing them up. On the other hand Cattimus seems to know what he/she is talking about.

That is a nice list of films.
Sadly you have made the big mistake of comparing a _HORROR film to a -SUPERHERO film.
there is no comparison.

Even though the site is called Superherohype, they do talk about ALL happenings within the Comics to Film world.

I know nothing about Priest beyond the premise so i cannot comment on what the film will be like.
But i like Paul Bettany. Even though he's married to my woman.

i will watch anything that has cam gigandet in it. cam is an amazing actor who has a great career ahead of him, plus i have a thing for vamps, anyway i love cam he is a great actor. never heard of the comic this is BASED on but i'm open to new ideas

idk, i mean ive read all the GN's a few years back and always hoped theyd make a movie this is actually one of the few mangas I have read, because of the cinematic elements and the art style of it all. to hear that they are changing the story completely sucks. I reccomend u pick up one GN and read it for urself its a good story and once u read it i think ull sympathize more with fans of this book and how we feel its being ruined. its like taking transformers and making optimus a scooter....or having dane cook play the joker

If that’s the synopsis I will not see it. it is not what the book is about. The priest fell in love with his adopted sister growing up and his adopted farther sent him to a convent to become a priest cause he saw that as incest. When he came back (as a priest) he and his sister were still having feeling for each other. Some bandits attacked the farm and raped and killed her and made the priest watch… then they killed him. The devil Belial brought him back to life to fight a rise of demon zombies from hell who are attacking towns and turning the townsfolk into zombie slaves. If you look on a map where the towns are positioned and connect the dots it forms a pentagram, which will serve as a gate way for the devil to come to earth. So the Priest/Belial are working to stop this… I’m not sure if Belial is really a devil or not cause he’s not for the devil or for god… he’s just for himself… I think he’s the priest’s conscious, which gives him a reason for revenge. Anywho… no niece involved or anything like that. and I’ve not seen any vampires in it… but I've only read up to book 12. Hollywood knows how to ruin a good story.

people judge movies so much before they even see them, you people go out and watch a movie and you might say will hell that was pretty good. i seen movies i was sure was suck and i turned out likeing them. never base a movie on what you read, wait untill you WATCH the movie and it may suprise you.

I'm a huge fan of cam gigandet i love him, so i will be seeing this, i also have a thing for vampires, just not the twilight kind, steph meyer messed them up.
