NBC Trimming Heroes Season 4 Episodes
Source:Advertising Age
April 23, 2009

Advertising Age reports that while NBC is moving forward on a fourth season of "Heroes," you can expect fewer episodes.

NBC is expected to trim the number of episodes of its sci-fi drama it airs next season, according to people familiar with the situation, and also run those episodes closer together to avoid interruptions to the story line week by week. The network is considering running 18 to 20 episodes of the series in the [2009-2010] season, those people said, down from 25 this season.

18 is better than none.

Please...just...end...hate Heros...It stinks to high Heaven

Don't really watch Heroes, so i don't really care.

From what i've seen it looks good so i hope they make alot of seasons so that i'll have something to watch :D

I'm genuinely surprised that this got picked up for another season. The quality of the show has been increasingly horrid. The formula needs a little creativity.

"Sylar is bad. Peter is caring. Things are happening. No one cares." Doesn't really work well..

Ya never know. Maybe they decided to add something for this season. Like.. more "Sylar is bad". Apparently, people like that dribble.

"I Am Sylar" was one of the best Heroes episodes and its going to be tough to maintain that kind of momentum so maybe fewer episodes is better than a drawn out season next fall.

I actually think Heroes is getting slightly better.

All I know is if they cancel "Chuck" I will be pissed!

i was a big fan of heroes and i was always the first one to jump on the scene to defend heroes but i hate to admit it but this season has been such a desapointment i remember i used to be left wanting more after each episode always wondered whats going to happen in the next episode and now its like is that it was that really it no climax no cliffhanfer no nothing, i'm still watching heroes but i'm not expecting nothing great, i remember peter was the most powerful dude out there now he just flies hes a looser, its so sad....

Posted by: dc315 on April 23, 2009 at 19:45:25

yeah, i think it's the 2009-2010 season. 2008 was last year, people.

Posted by: David on April 23, 2009 at 20:14:52

cool, I still love this show and can't wait for season 4! hopefully they can keep up the momentum that they have gained in recent weeks.

Posted by: SmokinBandit on April 23, 2009 at 20:21:58

I think heroes is a really good show, and the lateset episode "I Am Sylar" was definately one of the best i've seen so far. In my opinion, they where waining in the story, but they got rid of a bunch of unneccesary people and are getting back to brass tacks.

I can't believe this show is still coming back next season when a GOOD show like Chuck is "on the bubble". And the ratings for Heroes has been dropping on a weekly basis, almost down to where Chuck is. I'll never understand TV networks...

This show was sucking so bad that I stopped watching it I almost wish they could revamp it and start a new.
It will never happen so I'll look forward to Powers tv show. and maybe Caprica.

a good start for the show and now it's definitely going down hill. now they just want 18 episodes for season 4, not a surprise since season 3 had a lot of uninteresting developments. the latest episode wasn't a big deal to me as far as the overall point of "heroes" in general.

i'm tired of claire's whining, the writers are really afraid of visual and character development for the show. i'm not really looking forward to the next season, i'll just wait until next year and watch all 18 and then judge it on that.

C.E.S.S. Announcement....

-Sam Raimi recently was quoted as feeling he has got "an understanding of Peter Parker as the character that I have not quite put onto the screen yet."
-Perhaps the rest of you enjoy a Peter Parker that acts like he's still 17, is always a jerk to his girlfriend and dances around like a fairy. I have this to say, for myself, however - "Sam, you are perhaps the most self-disillusioned individual in the world! Read some McFarlane comics moron!"

If you seem to hate Heroes so much, then why do you bother to come on to a news story about it?

Posted by: The Pretentious Fool on April 23, 2009 at 21:21:24

I think this could be an improvement. Fewer episodes means less padding. Less interruptions between episodes means they can tell the story in a more cohesive whole. This has worked wonders for Lost.

@Zaovisier

1) Way to stay on topic...
2) Your "coalition" is nothing more than meaningless dorky whining. Get a life

As far as this news goes.... Heroes has been getting better ever since Fuller returned (funnily enough, 'Cold Snap' was his first episode and it was probably the most powerful since Company Man... lol).

I hope that his involvement will continue to make it better. I'm excited to see what's to come :)

Glad it is coming back, and glad the production schedule should be a bit lighter. This show has streaks of brilliance, but always seems to give out under it's own weight. Hopefully that gives them more time to plan and execute a well thought out season. The show is much better with the Pushing Daisies guy back involved and with some of the other writers gone, but they've never had a great final chapter and they really need to plan season 4 to have a blockbuster ending and leave enough time and budget to get that right.

Posted by: CJ on April 23, 2009 at 21:24:20

Alas, they got rid of Loeb to late, no saving the show now.

Posted by: Kaw on April 23, 2009 at 21:34:44

How can a horrible show like this get another season and yet an Amazing shows like Chuck and kings might not.

please just cancel this show already. Save the good ones.

Posted by: GhostRadio on April 23, 2009 at 21:37:07

I loved Heroes and then right around the writers strike it died and has been replaced by a lesser version of Heroes (prob a Skrull)

That's 21 episodes too many.

Posted by: Mike on April 23, 2009 at 22:09:02

Finally! this will be great. Much like Lost is doing now, shorter seasons help keep the story tightly paced with less filler episodes. You guys ever watch Dexter? 12 episodes each season and it's so short with such a big story that you get more out of every episode. Imagine a whole season filled with 1961's and I am Sylar's! Now they just need to set an end date like I'm thinking 3 or 4 (through Season six or Season seven) more seasons with 16-18 episodes each.
