Marvel Entertainment is Hiring Writers
March 27, 2009
Marvel Entertainment is readying to assemble a group of writers who will pen scripts for various properties Marvel wants to develop, reports Variety.
Marvel will invite up to five writers each year to work on specific projects. Those could include staffers behind Marvel's comic books.
The trade adds that the company will provide the specific pitches it wants the writers to tackle. Those could involve certain plot points for movies already in development or characters it would like to see in its future film slate.
The gathering of screenwriters will help Marvel come up with creative ways to launch its lesser-known properties, such as Black Panther, Cable, Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Nighthawk and Vision.
So far, it has focused its efforts on more popular superheroes like Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America.
A group of Marvel executives will choose the writers, with the final decision made by Kevin Feige, Marvel Studio's president of production.
Terms call for Marvel to own whatever the writers work on during the year. Company has the option to continue a relationship with the writers after that period.

Cable? from the X-men? Did i miss something or is cyclops not dead in the films? and they didn't have a baby.

They can come up with any kind of reason for Cable to exist but the only one that makes sense is that Nathan was born through a surrogate mother. Growing up parentless and in the hostile future would be really cool. And scotts an idiot.

those properties are support level only losers if they try to bring them to market solo. Dr. Strange might be the exception.

Cable's a decent character, but the two that pique my interest are Doc Strange and to a greater degree Iron Fist. They need to pay Matt Fraction whatever he wants to script an Iron Fist movie and Marvel will've crafted themselves a license to print money.

Isn't Black Panther going to be an animated series? Beside him I am interested in watching a good Dr. Strange movieperhaps like the origin JMS wrote but with a better last third.
Can't imagine Vision as a solo charcter but perhaps they find a way to make that cool.

Cyclops is not dead we didn't see him dusted so he's not Dead

I'm hoping for a black panther movie

Djimon Hounsou should be the panther.

I always thought Chiwetel Ejiofor (The Operative in Serenity) would make a perfect Black Panther.

I HOPE THEY DONT HAVE A WHITE BLACK PANTHER SINCE THEY HAD A BLACK KING PIN AND NOW A BLACK NICK FURY

Funny that nobody mention about Deadpool.
Posted by: GUYVER! on March 27, 2009 at 03:46:14
The Ultimates panther is black. however steve just took over for him near the end of ultimate 3.
anyway Chiwetel dosen't have a good African accent but he is a good actor. Djimon proved himself with blood dimonds. and if you don't believe a black panther with an African accent is good you need to STFU!
Deadpool is a character that is untoucable in some ways because he's an automatically rated R movie but which funny man could pull off dead pool's comedy right? Jim Carey? Dane cook? because I know Ryan's is a funny guy at times but really I don't like his dead pool or his acting in general even Hannibal king in blade

Vision is my favorite character of all comics, but I can't imagine bringing him into his own movie. I had hopes that they would morph Jarvis the computer from Iron Man into becoming Ultron so that we could see Vision in possibly an Avengers 2 movie. The Silver Surfer character from FF2 looked markedly like what Vision would look like and even had his phasing powers, so I figured I would never see him. Doubt this will ever come to fruition.

Who the hell is Nighthawk? Is that supposed to be Darkhawk, the fairly minor charcter from the 90's?
Posted by: Jack on March 27, 2009 at 05:14:13
Nighthawk fro Squadron Supreme. Marvel's version of Batman basically.

I can happily say that I would support any movie Marvel wanted to release about their characters.
I'm eager to see what other properties Marvel want to have written up in the next few years.
The reason Deadpool wasn't mention is because he is now owned by Fox. For the moment.

A "Vision" movie with "The Scarlet Witch" would be AWESOME !!!!

Personally, I'd be thrilled to see MARVEL get more into their sci0fi characters and make a big, epic ANNIHILATION film. Now THAT would make STAR WARS look pale in comparison. I'd LOVE to see NOVA onscreen and especially the tasty, tasty Gamora!!!!

Seriously.
Give us Cable & Deadpool!
And you COULD have some cameos, just do it good (not so sure about wolvie.. :[ )
