New Heroes Updates!
Source:Entertainment Weekly
December 11, 2008

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that NBC has cast John Glover (Lex Luthor's dad on "Smallville") to play Sylar's father in "Heroes."

"When Sylar meets his father, he's going to see a path ahead of him that he doesn't want to take," says a source. "He has a lot more in common with his father than he realized."

The Tony award winner will turn up towards the end of "Heroes'" forthcoming "Fugitives" chapter.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly also got to talk to Bryan Fuller ("Pushing Daisies"), who's rejoining the show as a consultant. Here's a bit on "Fugitives," which kicks-off on February 2:

It really is a fresh start. All of the characters are back in their real lives. You see Peter as a paramedic. Claire is looking for colleges. We get away from the world of formulas and quasi-magic.

Yes. Episodes 14, 15 and 16 are amazing. The whole "Fugitives" arc starts out very strongly, and then it gets a little dense in the middle in terms of the mythology. So I came in right at the point where everybody was realizing, "Oh, we're getting too dense here and we need to put faces on stories because there is no face to a formula; there is no face to saving the world." So it's turning this big ship back into a character stream, and everyone on the writing staff shares that desire. We need to get back into a character place, because that's where this story started: Very clean, superhero metaphors to everyday life. That's the path that we're taking. But it is a big ship so it's going to take a little while to turn it.

the show has been making improvements, hopefully things will only keep getting better. I've stuck it out through some really bad episodes, so please Heroes do not disappoint me

Thank god... Heroes really needed to start doing it. I held up hope for this show for so long, but I honestly was about to give up hope.

This sounds like really good news to me. John Glover is great and him as Sylar's father sounds awesome. It seems like they want to get back to the roots of things. The show has gotten so weird and crazy that its hard to keep track of everything.
For example: What ever happen to that hot Irish girl Peter left in the future in Season 2. (The future where the virus infects half the population. The future that doesn't exist anymore.)

Thats good news...seems like John Glover likes playing evil guy's dads:) He did great on Smallville and hes an amazing actor. 'Heroes' went down in season 2 and hopefully its getting back on track this season.

Stop taking away powers of the awsome characters. give Peter all of his powers back... ALL OF THEM!(if i have to list them all I will) and also Hiro as well. that was bullcock when arthur went back in time and took his away, come on really? im glad Sylar let that bullet kill him.

Thank god Kristen Bell finally died, what an annoyance she was. the only good thing that she can do is narrorate Gossip Girl and that is a long stretch.

Dont let Peter get the scar on his face like the one from the future. Keep that from happening. When does Ando get his power also?

Thank god they're going back to a character-driven storyline. I'm such a huge fan of the show, but I have to agree that the large-scale overly involved plots only work when you actually give a **** about the characters in them. In season one you REALLY cared what happened and who died, but they've offed a handful of characters this season and I've barely even batted an eye.

I still love the show, but I think I'll enjoy it more with the new direction the end of the season will be taking.

Sounds like finally Heroes remember what makes it special and like able TV series. Yes, it's truely a superhero metaphors to everyday life. That what made it interesting at first place. For the recent episode that has way too much quasi magic element, it would only work if everyone of them got a superhero costume. So it's a good idea to get them back on the root so it doesn't look like an X men knock off without even black leather or cool costumes..
Hope it will look better..

John Glover is a fantastic actor WOW!!! Who, would have thought he would go from Smallville as Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum's character's father Lionel Luthor to Zachary Quinto's (Gabriel "Sylar" Grey) on Heroes. Looking, forward to seeing him soon. Earlier, in Heroes Season 1 there was no mention that Sylar had a father but, the actress that played, his mother I remember her from "Little Shop of Horrors as Steve Martin's ex girlfriend. She, fell in love with Rick Moranis later on in the film and they both got married and built a house together. Bill Murray made a cameo appearance with Moranis in the film as well. Murray, and Moranis also starred, in both Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II in 1984 and 1989. So, Heroes Villains is over an now it it is just Heroes Season 3 I guess. I loveeeeeee my baby Hayden Panettiere so sweet and sexy.!!!

What's ahead for Heroes? More of the same apparently. Time to put this loser show to bed.

^^^ come on guys...give this tv series a break! along with house md and gossip girl, this is the only good show aired.

Utterly brilliant! John Glover is an amazing actor and he and Zachary are going to rock!

This show was good in its 1st season but it's already worn itself out. I look forward to it's snowball effect as it heads down the slope towards destroying the expectations of its fans.

& by the way someone needs to say it but we need another Short Circuit movie. Guttenberg's the man & Johnny 5 can take out all the lame heroes!

Posted by: Man on December 11, 2008 at 04:18:10

^^
That Short Circuit comment made your opinion now unimportant and should be deleted.

Sounds like they are finally getting the show back on track. This season hasnt been amazing but its alot better then season 2 and is showing promise.

I don't see the problem people have with Heroes. Its plot and premiss are more believable than Lost; It is far more exciting, better acted and better written than Smallville; It has far hotter chicks than 24 or Prison Break. While Heroes is the only of those shows I catually watch, but give me a break. It's one of the best shows on TV for its type of fan base and demo. Anynody who says other wise doesn't know what they're talking about.

John Glover is a great actor and the best on e to play Sylars father. I've watched John, who played Lionel Luthor on Smallville, and he did by my opinion an wonderful job on there.

@Nerf Herder

This has been the best Smallville Season in YEARS! take that off your list >.<

John Glover as Sylars dad = Brillaint!! I hope they do not kill him off, he is a brilliant Actor. This is an instant WIN for the show.

Smallville Season 8 has been far better than Heroes season 3 thus far. And who would have thought that after the last 2-3 seasons of Smallville have totally sucked! I love the new writers of that show now. Heroes was losing steam in ratings and story, hopefully this puts them back on track.

Posted by: BATMAN HATE on December 11, 2008 at 05:43:23

HAHA it would be cool if Michael Rosenbaum guest starred in an episode now since he has hair now lol

Posted by: Bassbot on December 11, 2008 at 05:45:00

JOHN GLOVER WILL BE AMAZING!!! Even my wife will enjoy the show again if he's on it. Great interview too!

Posted by: Nate on December 11, 2008 at 05:46:23

Unfortunately if you remember; Peter's father has all of Peter's powers including that pesky healing ability he absorbed from Claire.

Posted by: WillardNation on December 11, 2008 at 06:32:56

I'm really tired of them taking away people's powers.

Posted by: One Q? on December 11, 2008 at 07:00:39

one question...

what do you think will happen if the teen claire kidnapped the baby claire?
