Tim Connors has been named Chief Operating Officer of Marvel Studios, the Hollywood subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment, Inc. In his new role, Connors will manage Marvel Studios' day-to-day business operations as well as oversee the business transactions for all studio productions including the anticipated releases of Iron Man 2 on May 7, 2010, Thor on July 16, 2010, The First Avenger: Captain America on May 6, 2011, The Avengers in July 15, 2011 and Ant Man. The announcement was made today by David Maisel, Chairman of Marvel Studios, and Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios.

Prior to today's announcement, Connors served as Executive Vice President of Business Affairs and Operations for Marvel Studios, a position he held since December 2006.

Marvel Studios' business team is rounded out by Matt Finick, who is currently Senior Vice President, Studio Finance, with Louis D’Esposito on the production side serving as President, Physical Production.

"Tim's strong business acumen coupled with his knowledge of Marvel's intellectual properties and policies have been of enormous benefit to us during the studio's formation and first two releases," said Feige. "We are pleased Tim is taking on a more significant business role, especially as others on the team and I focus on the ever-growing creative demands and opportunities as we bring our characters to the big screen."

Connors stated: "Marvel has one of the most promising businesses in the entertainment sector, and I am thrilled to work with David and Kevin and the rest of the executive management team in this new role. We have an exciting time ahead, and I look forward to contributing in a meaningful way."

Prior to joining Marvel Studios in 2006, Connors worked at Technicolor where he served as Deputy General Counsel for Electronic Distribution Services. Connors also served in Business Affairs at DreamWorks SKG and as a Business Development Consultant for the Tokyo-based media company, Kadokawa Group Holdings.

Marvel Studios recently announced an agreement with Raleigh Studios to film each of its next four films including Iron Man 2, Thor, The First Avenger: Captain America and The Avengers at Raleigh Studio's facility in Manhattan Beach, CA. In addition to developing its own production slate, Marvel Studios is also working with Twentieth Century Fox on X-Men Origins: Wolverine which is in production and slated for release on May 1, 2009, as well as with Sony Pictures on Spider-Man 4 which is currently in development.

Okay. Smiles. Nods head.

Is it just me, or does it just sound like Marvel is throwing around impressive sounding titles.

"Hi, I'm a sales clerk. What do you do?"

"Oh, I'm just the Chief Operating Officer of Marvel Studios."

"Ooohhhh. Cool. So...what do you do?"

"Oh, ummm....I'm the Chief. I'm in charge of stuff. You know, after Kevin Feige has his say, and Joe Quesada. And Stan Lee. And Avi Arad. And sometimes Brian Michael Bendis."

"Sooo..."

"I don't really know. I got a company car though, and a kick ass salary, and now I get to add my pointless commentary to all Marvel DVDs."

"Okay. Sweet."

Don't forget to give him a bonus of 10 million dollars, because the economy is so good.

Ant Man will only work if it's the Kirkman-created Ant Man, but it will still bomb. Thor will bomb, Cap may be a success, and the Avengers will make about the same as the first x_men movie.

I've no idea who this guy is, but maybe Marvel should cut back on all the executives.
That way they wouldn't need to price their comics so dearly.
$3.99 for a comic? Forget it!

why couldnt those ****ers have supported Punisher?

Posted by: BEN HUR on December 9, 2008 at 19:42:44

Good point Abe, lou-bert youre' a lou-ser. Everyone one of the movies mentioned will be successes, as will Ant-Man if they get it out before Avengers and can include him in that film.

Whatever, can we hear some developement progress for Thor already? I mean July 2010 - they only have about a year & half to make & do they even have a script yet?? Thor is actually one of toughest part to make to the big screen. If they try to rush just for the date line & ever screw it up, we may lost faith on the avenger. Is a chain reaction.

Ok. Am I the only one anticipating the release of Ant Man? I think this would make a really cool movie to see, but I think an excellent idea would be a Heroes for Hire movie. It would be very Blade-ish, with a lot of ass kicking action. Think about it Marvel.

Posted by: Spoiler on December 9, 2008 at 20:29:19

He is the Cheif of Operations, sounds like a position that you appoint to your stupid little brother to keep him from annoying the crap out of you while you work.

"Give him a good salary, what's the smallest bailout amount that's being given?"

"30,000,000"

"That's good salary, give him that. An give him all the comics books he wants to read. Actually while you are at it send up some hookers. Nothing like having your balls cradled while reading the latest issue of Iron Man."

@NOT A TUMOR
oh...ok, Heroes for Hire would make a Blade-ish type movie. I thought for a second you were talking about Ant-Man,lol.

Personally I think Marvel should scrap the whole Ant-man solo movie idea. Introduce him in Avengers. I'm just not sure how they would market someone called "Ant-Man" to the general public. Thor yes, not everyone knows him but there is a certain appeal to Thor that I can see applying to everyone, not just comic book fans. There's the whole warrior/kicking ass/huge war hammer thing for the guys, and the whole ripped body, long blond hair flowing in the wind, romance novel cover thing going for the women, lol. Captain America is pretty much known to everyone (in the U.S anyway, though personally I'll be downloading that one or waiting until someone I know has it and will borrow it, I just can't justify paying money to see one of my least favorite characters), and the Avengers will have 'em all so don't see too much trouble promoting that. But Ant-Man? Don't see that doing too well, not to mention that Pym has always struck me more of an Avengers character so much as a solo character. I could be mistaken but has he even had his own ongoing series aside from Avengers? I know there was Tales To Astonish which he shared with The Hulk back in the 60's but I haven't noticed if he's had any other series aside from Avengers since then.

I really want Marvel Studios to be the real deal and i have high hopes for the properties currently in development. However, realistically they have made two good movies, only two. I would like to see them really knock it out of the park with Cap, Thor and The Avengers but I remain skeptical until I see them on the screen.
I do think they need to focus on buying some of their other properties back. Daredevil, FF, Punisher and GR need to come back to the House of Marvel so they can be done right. No way Fox gives up Xmen & Wolverine any time soon. Same goes for Sony and Spiderman.

Posted by: Mcgunner on December 9, 2008 at 22:14:15

I heard Matt Millen is available!

Posted by: IAmProdigy on December 9, 2008 at 22:17:10

They didn't support Punisher: War Zone because the movie sucked ass. Jigsaw was Lexi's way of trying to have a better/cooler villain that Joker which did not happen and Ray as Punisher blew chunks. I'd rather see Thomas Jane who actually gained muscle mass for the role.

Posted by: Stryder on December 9, 2008 at 22:37:57

Think this has anything to do with the new Punisher movie tanking at the box office?

Posted by: MARVEL or nothing at all on December 9, 2008 at 22:50:39

Ant-Man? They must have tossed all the names of thier biggest loser heroes into a hat and thats what they drew. Of all the cool characters that has yet to grace the screen they pick him? The ONLY way it would work is if its not Pym but the new Ant-Man from Avengers Initiative that has a mouth on him thats a cross between Spiderman and Deadpool. They go with Pym and it will flop. Unnnnnless there is an EXTREMELY hot actress following him around as his wife Wasp...nah that wouldnt even do it. Pym blows.
