Kevin McKidd Says He's a Thor Contender
December 2, 2008
Kevin McKidd, who currently stars on "Grey's Anatomy," told IGN that he's still a contender for the lead role in Marvel Studios' Thor.
The actor, most known for "Journeyman" and "Rome," says there's been "a lot of back and forth" but that nothing has been determined. He acknowledged that Kenneth Branagh is directing it, a choice that makes him even more excited about the film.
Marvel Studios is targeting a July 16, 2010 release for Thor.

hmmm, could possibly be a good choice.

If anything, McKidd would make a great Dr. Donald Blake, but as the God of Thunder, the guy is just not imposing enough to pull it off. So I'm hoping he'll be cast as the good doctor and nothing more.

Kevin McKidd is fantastic in everything he is in. With his acting chops and square jaw, he would make the perfect Thor!

I could see that he looks like a pretty good thor

. . . . . Y A W N ! ! !

After doing an IMBD search as I've never seen his work, I think the potential is there. He isn't exactly buffed out but could pull off a Donald Blake, like I-Rod states. Perhaps some CGI tweaking when he's Thor? Who knows how they'd create a depiction of Thor. Complete CGI like Hulk? At least something is getting in gear.

Okay ... Okay ... Okay . . . . I have now sat down and strapped on my earplugs and taken my dramamine and am ready for all the stupid and ridiculous "THEY SHOULDA GOT TRIPLE H, man!!" comments that are sure to come.
Go ahead, crap your brains out all over this comment section.

Is it true that George Eads of CSI is in the lead to play Captain America?
Posted by: JmsSpideyfan on December 2, 2008 at 16:25:07
the PERFECT(and IMHO the only) choice for THOR would be Alexander Skarsgård who plays the nordic vampire Eric Nothman on HBO's True Blood.

I think McKidd would be a great Thor. He's got the acting chops, yeah he's not a huge mass of muscle but most people who are can't act. Bulk him up, put him in Asgardian Armor, maybe tweak his physique with CGI here and there, and you have a Thunder God.

@ Merrimon. . .
... I heard the same thing about Gearge Eads playing Captain America. I hope so. I like him as Nick on CSI. He'll (of course) have to go blonde though.

I wwouldnt be too worried about the muscles right now. Just get the right person to play the character. Christian Bale wasn't real buff before Batman Begins. And David Wenham was scwarny before he was in 300. (by the way, he DID buff up for that movie. it wasnt CGI, or body paint, or a body double)
The point being, if you go for simple phisical imposingness (Not a word i know), you'll wind up with a Kevin Sorbo, or a wrestler who wants to get into movies. You can train a guy to get muscles, but you can't train a meathead to act well.
Character first, physical characteristics later

Great choice...he can put on some muscle, its not comics so he doesnt have to be as big as the comics portray him. No live action version of a character ever is.
or perhaps Sean Bean.
BTW, the first person who suggests a wrestler is a goober.

Yes, I heard that about CSI Nick being Cap. I dunno if I like that or not.
McKidd is a good choice though for Thor. Kuddos!

I hope they don't knock him out of the running because he might've ran his trap...I figured they keep these things secret. Either way, he'd be perfect for the role...And as for Capt. America, I nominate Leo DiCaprio. Why? Two words: The Departed.

Like him, good choice.

George Eads as Cap America? I hadn't heard that. Anyone got a source link? I've always thoughts Eads would make a good Captain Marvel (Shazam). Not sure about him as Cap Am. He's got the jaw, but if they're going tv actor, I think Ryan McPartlin (Chuck) is a better choice.

I think that Mark Valley from FRINGE would make an AWESOME Captain America.
Not only does he look the part, but the dude graduated from West Point AND served in operation Desert Storm!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: gibbyblaylock on December 2, 2008 at 16:52:49
Of course, the only problem with George Eads AND Mark Valley is that both of those dudes are in their forties. They'll probably want somebody younger for Cap.

this is good, i hope he'll get it. he's a great actor and he looks the part.
McKidd Dammit!
Posted by: TucsonRican on December 2, 2008 at 16:57:31
Eads went blonde in the Evel Keneival movie...
I think they should use McKidd's Co-star in Kingdom of Heaven, Jouko Ahola. He was the World's Strongest Man 1999 & 1997!

tamron
I don't know if the McPartlin dude can act but he certainly looks the part. He's a big dude at 6'3 and I always thought Cap should be tall.
Also according to imdb McPartlin is appearing in some super hero comedy or something called Super Capers.

this is ****ing stupid. you need to get a guy who is humongous in muscle. don't **** this up marvel. hire a WWE wrestler to pull of the job.
