Marc Guggenheim Talks Green Lantern
Source:MTV
December 1, 2008

MTV chatted with Green Lantern co-writer Marc Guggenheim, who dropped this interesting bit about Oa:

"I’ll come over and drool [at the designs]," Guggenheim said. "I will say that the design work is truly mindblowing, and it's hard to pick a favorite. But the shots on Oa are spectacular. What Oa looks like has never been seen on film."

He also talks more about the possible Superman cameo in the film here.

Looks like Downey fell off the wagon again.

I hope it works. But Mark Guggenheim can't write more than an average comic book to save his life.

They should have a "suck-off" writing contest between him and Daniel Way.

Wait did Robert Downer Jr. just say Iron MAn will make 5 times more at box office that Dark Knight.. aaahh he tight cause it's the opposite.

Posted by: wamdue on December 1, 2008 at 14:42:08

I wouldn't worry its not like we are going to have a Iron Man vs Green Lantern movie

Just go ahead and not plan the Kent cameo..
Until WB gets that franchise in order it is pointless to a small cameo of Clark Kent. Plus the Stark cameo was to continue the march towards an Avenger movie. The cameo Marc is talking about is when the ring goes to choose a new bearer and it bypasses Kent. The ring not choosing Clark Kent only serves to diminish the character. Is Hal Jordan supposed to be viewed as more worthy? Its as pointless as Joker in the SuperMax Green Arrow movie- Joker has always been in Arkham and without super powers- doesn't need to be in a 'SuperMax' prison. Yo!! DC- build yourselves a studio and dump Warners...

I'm a Marvel guy, but I'm looking forward to this film and hope it does really well. DC needs this film to do well. It will greatly affect how they approach super hero films for years to come.

No contest...Chuck Austen dominates in the suck-off category.

maybe they can slip in Terrence Howard as John Stewart.. ah..

Oh, make sure that brandon routh is superman for the cameo

Posted by: SonofDennyColt on December 1, 2008 at 15:03:00

NO SUPERMAN!! PERIOD!

Posted by: Sero on December 1, 2008 at 15:05:13

Matthew McConaughey would make the perfect Hal Jordan/Green Lantern!

You do know that DC is a subsidiary of WB right? How are they going to dump Warners when Time Warner owns them? TW will always be pulling the strings right?

To the guy who posts as "Robert Downey Jr."

Iron Man was awesome, no doubt. But come one man, get off Downey Jr.'s nuts. There are other great superhero flicks out there, not "exclusively" Iron man.

We'll see how this movie turns out. By the way, Incredible Hulk was better than Iron Man. Hate to say it, but it was

Want to make a good Green Lantern movie? Here's how you do it:

30 seconds to end credits, GL is flying towards the camera, Lobo comes up out of nowhere on his bike for no reason whatsoever and rips his face off and wears it as a hat. Roll credits.

I'd be first in line for that.

Welling for Superman...cameo

Posted by: Pecos Bill on December 1, 2008 at 15:22:45

It would confuse movie-goers to no end if Tom Welling had a cameo in GL, "So...wait, he's Superman now? What about the other guy? Huh?"

Just put Routh in there and make everyone happy :)

Posted by: JackNapier28 on December 1, 2008 at 15:27:09

Robert Downey Jr...You do know that Dark Knight is the #2 movie all time at the box office right? Just making sure. Anyhow, i would watch a Green Lantern movie. And all you people on here hating on DC, respect the originators.

wtf is Oa?

Posted by: Logan San on December 1, 2008 at 15:30:36

The only good thing in the DC Universe is BATMAN...the rest is crap.

Posted by: Shayera on December 1, 2008 at 15:35:33

D-MAN: "What is he talking about?Oa??Sorry but I dont read the GL comic books."

Errrr, if you don't know what Oa is, look it up. It's easier than posting here.

I think that a Superman/Clark Kent cameo wouldn't fit in at all really, unless it was some 30-second bit. This is a Green Lantern film. The very notion of one of the big three even making an appearance in a Green Lantern film is upsetting, and that isn't coming from a fan-boy: I have never read a single Green Lantern comic in my life. The fact is that this will be the first movie to enter into the DC universe that ISNT about Superman or Batman. On general principle, Green Lantern should have his own movie free from everyone else.

How nice to see alot of stupid post. The dc stuff is really in disarray, i dont see this helping much. Where is there long term plan? When and how will they start to bridge the gaps to there jla stuff? All they have going for them on terms of success is the bat, and i think they will keep him as far away from jla as possible for now. They need to figure out what there doing with there S-man. I'm a marvel fan but big fan of GL and i hope this does well. And for the dude saying dc to drop warner and get there own studio going, im sure there is a ton of legal crap tieing them to warner, and even if theres not, marvel didnt get there own studio overnight, fox has about 3 titles and the x, sony has the spider, these things given up so avengers and what not could be done to marvel ideas.

Posted by: ScRipt on December 1, 2008 at 15:37:08

**** ALL YOU MUPPETS SLAGGING OFF GREEN LANTERN, YOU HAVE NO IDEA THE POTENTIAL IT HAS, NO ****ING IDEA. WHY THE **** IS THERE SO MANY MARVEL FANS SLAGGING OFF DC, WHY IS IT ONE OVER THE OTHER, MUPPETS, I BET THERE ALL YANKS, "WE HAVE TO SUPPORT A SIDE, WE HAVE TO CHOOSE ONE USA USA USA USA, THERE IS ONLY ONE CHOICE, LETS HAVE WAR. LEFT VS RIGHT RED VS YELLOW. FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT YEEEE ****ING HA

I LIKE BOTH, MARVEL AND DC, THERE IS SAID IT.

Posted by: Shayera on December 1, 2008 at 15:41:20

In this case, ScRipt, it's green vs yellow.

I like both too. The Green Lantern has unlimited potential and it's a shame that so few people know much about the CORPS.

To answer people's questions: Oa is the planet that the Green Lantern Corps is based out of. Wiki it.

DC IS THE BEST! BEST CHARACTERS! BEST STORIES! BEST LEGACIES! AND FROM NOW ON THE BEST MOVIES!

Posted by: Ray Blakeman on December 1, 2008 at 15:45:43

Why does there need to be a competition for Superhero movies? Can't they simply make a good Green Lantern movie without comparing it to Iron Man, Batman or anyone else? No one is looking to be the best here so chill out! It;s about making a good film, not upstaging other Marvel OR DC characters. Stop being so close minded and enjoy a good film for Christ's sake!
