New Kick-Ass Set Photos
November 13, 2008
Newsarama has posted new photos from the set of the Matthew Vaughn-directed Kick-Ass, starring Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson, Lyndsy Fonseca, Mark Strong, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Chloe Moretz.
Written by Mark Millar and drawn by John Romita Jr., the Marvel Comics' Icon imprint book centers on a high school dweeb named Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson, pictured below) who decides to become a superhero even though he has no athletic ability or coordination. Things change when he eventually runs into real bad guys with real weapons.

I don't know anything about this movie, but that costume looks like a 6 years olds ninja holloween costume...?
it's supposed to look like that, he is dork trying to be a super hero, it's just like that time when you tried........ but this is more "kick ass"

I am aware only of the fact that this is adapted from a not-even-finished-yet comic book miniseries. But the costume is pretty dead-on based on the images I've seen of the comic books.
Will probably check this out.

Have any of you idiots even read the comic?
That costume is spot on, it's SUPPOSED to look homemade and ugly. That's the point, it's supposed to make super-heroism or vigilante-ism believable in a crazy, bloody way.
Once you see heads getting sliced and guts pouring out, you'll shove your foot in your mouth.

Yeah the only thing is that he has doesnt have a mouth hole in the comic but other than that i think this going to be awesome. Is this the part at end of issues 2 where he is fighting the people and everyone starts to gather around taking pictures?

the comic is so goddamn hilarious
every ish has at least one huge OMG moment that just blows me away, great book, tons of fun to read

That costume is god awful, it doesn't even look like something thats home made. I know their trying to stay true to the book but they could've played around with the colors and fabrics a bit more. EPIC FAIL

Looks exactly like it does in the comics. You can tell the idiots who are commenting on something that they have not even read yet. I cant wait to see HitGirl in action.

The costume color reminds of old cyclops with yellow spandex.

WOW, this looks awesome. Right out of the book. I I really cant wait to see this. I just hope its as violent as the book.

Obviously someone who doesn't read the comic, but feels they must comment on something they don't understand. The entire idea of that costume is that it is supposed to look awful because it's made by a dweeb who doesn't really know anything about superheroics. Not epic fail; epic SUCCESS.

You have got to be kidding me. This movie is actually being made, but Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Black Panther, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Wonder Woman and the Flash are sitting on the back burner???? This is ....... words escape me. Argghhh!!!! And before anyone tries to say something like "don't just a book by it's cover" forget that. Most men are visual and this is not visually appealing. My spidey senses tell me this is crapola.
Posted by: Tyrone on November 14, 2008 at 09:09:11
I meant judge, and this is still crap.

This is Kick-Ass and Bad-Ass!
This looks great and I cant wait for issue #5. What is with all the delays?
Posted by: Darkbane on November 14, 2008 at 09:23:41
So many judgements by people that have no frame of reference. There is a REASON Kick-Ass was optioned into a movie by the time its 3rd issue it. Its a very good comic book series. Some of the comments sound like the idiots that said Watchmen sucks because the costumes look retarded. Seriously open your mind before you open your mouth (or type in this case.)
Posted by: WebHead on November 14, 2008 at 10:15:07
Why'd they cut the mouth out? They could do voice-overs, right?
Posted by: SmokinBandit on November 14, 2008 at 10:51:36
Looks good except in the comic he doesnt have a mouth pieace and its ment to be made from a wet-suit.
Posted by: Vegatajiz on November 14, 2008 at 11:37:50
I'm totally on board with the people praising the dead on look of the costume, but it's not home made in the books. It's suppose to be a scuba suit he just bought off the internet.

This is an independent production that was raised by Vaughn himself. GL, Flash, Wonder Woman, etc. are all properties all owned by DC.
This movie didn't need a "Green Light" to start production since it is a creator owned property. Totally different scenario

I'll pick up the issues and give it a read before making a spot judgment but I can see how some may want to scream 'crap' at first glance. I trust Vaughn though..
