Green Lantern Eyeing Spring Start

FirstShowing.net caught up with producer Donald De Line, who says the Greg Berlanti-directed Green Lantern is nearing principal photography:

Earlier today I caught up briefly with producer Donald De Line, who is developing the Green Lantern film, and asked him for an update. He told me that "a new draft of the script came in" and they're "gearing up to start shooting early spring." While it's not confirmed, he added that "it's coming together and I'm excited about it. Hopefully we'll make it to start gate. We're really close - really close."

The Warner Bros. Pictures project is based on the comic that was created in 1940 by writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell.

Interesting... hopefully they do the character justice, I hear they are sticking with Hal Jordan, a great move as, IMHO, he is the greatest of the Green Lanterns we have all come to know. Now I hope they do not slaughter the character in their casting decision

steele do you really think he is the best green lantern I can think of a couple that would be better. Notice I didn't say beat hal jordan because it was proven that not many people can beat him but I think they should have gone with kyle rayner. just for a modern generation

First of all = so pumped this is finally happening and not with Jack Black. (Come on...*crosses fingers* Nathan Fillion)

I'm glad they're going with Legion and just setting the story into motion with Sinestro and not just jumping right into it.

I am very excited about this. They'll stay true to the early Jordan storyline, and if anybody ever really wants to see Gardner or Stewart, this movie will be a great jumping off point for their stories. This could be massive. A GLC movie would rock my socks off. You could have Gardner in any of them, as comic relief, though personally the only interesting thing Stewart's ever done in my opinion is let the Anti-Life rip up part of the galaxy in 'Cosmic Odyssey', and that's not to his credit.

Fantastic. I have no problem with Hal Jordan- he was the first, John Stewart is a great character that will show up in sequals and Justice League. This should be grand and epic because of the scope of the story.

The original version of Green Lantern was created by Finger and Nodell. Hal Jordan came in later, and was created by John Broome and Gil Kane. I understand that the movie we're going to see is about Hal, Carol Ferris, Abin Sur, Sinestro, the Green Lantern core and The Guardians of the Galaxy. Hopefully the GL movie will be a hybrid of Top Gun, Star Wars and the Fellowship of the Ring.

I've always thought that the DC characters with the most box office potential beside Bats and Supes are GL and Shazam! I've never seen any of Mr. Berlanti's TV shows, but hopefully, he will be equal to the task.

It seems that another dream is coming true! In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight...

i was looking forward to Jack Black as GL.... NOT...

it doesn't mean that him being the lead in Shallow Hal, qualifies him to be Hal Jordan... lol. (just needed to put that joke in)

great news though, hope they will stay true to Hal's origin...

i hope this comes together well

galad they're using hal jordan bu i think we;ve got to see the corps oa and the guardians in this film not threaten a tone chenge by throwing everything in for pt 2 and 3

i wanna see 3 moives dealing with hal jordan hero to villain then reborn whilst having everyone elses arcs going down
this has he potential to be the lord of the rings of superhero films
plus it's got loads of rings in it!
