These are Some Kick-Ass Casting Calls
Source:Superhero Hype!

Two casting calls have appeared online for the filming of director Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass in Hamilton, Ontario. Based on the Marvel Comics' Icon imprint book, written by Mark Millar and drawn by John Romita Jr., the action-adventure stars Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson, Lyndsy Fonseca, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Chloe Moretz.

The story centers on a high school dweeb named Dave Lizewski who decides to become a superhero even though he has no athletic ability or coordination. Things change when he eventually runs into real bad guys with real weapons.

This first one was posted here:

Looking for teen goths / emos with facial piercings (eyebrows, lips, nose, etc.) to be extras in a film entitled "Kickass" starring Nicolas Cage, shooting in Hamilton on Saturday September 20th.

There will be a shuttle from Toronto available for those without cars on the day of shooting.

MUST be 15-19 yrs of age, or be able to pass for a high school student.

Please send a clear photo ASAP along with your age, and indicate Goth/Emo in the subject heading of your email.

And the second one here:

The film 'Kickass' starring Nicolas Cage will be filming in Toronto on Sept. 20 and 21 (Saturday and Sunday). It is a high school scene and we are looking for athletic, all american types, clean cut, fit 16 - 19 yrs old to be extras on both days.

You must be available the entire time on both days since extra work can last anywhere from 10 - 12 hours / day and we will probably be starting early in the morning.

If you have the right look and would like to be considered please email a recent photo. Please make sure it's a clear photo and that you are the only one in the picture since the director will need to review the photos submitted.

We are filming in Hamilton but there will be a bus provided from Toronto and back for anyone that requires it.

Funny how this kind of language doesn't get any flak from the EEOC, et al.

"...looking for athletic, all american types, clean cut..."

"If you have the right look..."

What is the "right look"? Must be because it's Hollywood. It's okay for the movies not to reflect "real America".

Hey Machine- have you looked at who IS making this movie and who isn't. Hollywood has nothing to do with it.

And there are still plenty of "clean cut" looking kids in America and the world. Not everyone wants to look like a douche.

As for this movie, I say, KICK-ASS!

Nick cage is will ruin this film like he does everything

Superboobs:
Let me say first -- I am no fan of Nic Cage -- not a fan IF he does his face-contorting scenery-chewing that some directors let him get away with. I've see him notch down his line readings and decrease the facial gymnastics, and THAT is what makes him an agreeable actor to watch (though any way you cut it, he would have been a terrible choice for Tim Burton's concept of "Superman").

@ machine

it's called setting the mood for a particular scene. did you not notice the call for 'goth kids' as well? i wouldn't think the concept of casting for a specific setting needs to be explained.

@ superboobs

i was worried how cage would look in this film, especially since at the time of his casting we hadn't even been introduced to his character in the series yet! but after seeing the pictures of him with the stache', and checking out book #4, i'm feeling better. the guy does have acting chops, it's just the roles he's been choosing over the past decade haven't been the best, and i don't know why. have faith man, vaugn is a great director.

@ your mom

'firster' are irritating as hell. i've been thinking if we ignore them, they'll eventually stop, but it does look annoyingly (sp?) bleak.

@ Your Mom

you didn't really say anything of importance either.

anyway, i really don't like nic cage. sean connery kept him from ruining The Rock, and Face-Off was only good because he and travolta were not trying to act like themselves.

other than those, he makes pretty lame movies... or does he make movies pretty lame? it's a toss-up.

mmm.... will Kick Ass possibly need army guys in this film?

Posted by: William_C on September 11, 2008 at 18:48:10

Emos? Goths? Hmm.. I'd have love to send in a few headshots had it not been for that. :( Oh well.

Posted by: richard on September 11, 2008 at 19:00:00

yeah machine, this is a comic book based in a high school. The story has two 'castes' of teenagers in the book goths/emos and the all american pretty boy american 'football' players and their clique.

Pull your head out of your arse and buy yourself a clue, this is an adaptation of a comic by a scots man, adapted for the screen by a londoner and directed by a londoner, not to mention mostly funded by brits. This is as far from a ****ing hollywood movie as you could get. Plus, its being shot in Canada and London.

So... are we gonna see more of Cage's Vegas Elvis impersonations, or does he plan on acting in this one?
