Laird Talks TMNT Live Action/CG Hybrid
September 9, 2008
MTV alerted us they have an update on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles project, which will actually be a live action/CG hybrid:
Kevin Eastman's much-discussed rumor of a live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles may have been quickly shot down last week, but that's not the end of this story.
TMNT co-creator and owner Peter Laird has confirmed to MTV News that he is close to a deal for a live-action/CGI hybrid "TMNT" feature film, and that he'd like to get "TMNT" voice actors Chris Evans and Sarah Michelle Gellar back..."but this time in the flesh."

I liked the live action films. The cgi-film had its moments, but no vanilla ice.

I was a kid when the very first Ninja Turtles movie came out. I thought it was awesome. Still do. The live action worked great then. Don't know what the problem would be with it now. I kinda wish they'd stick with it.
Maybe I'm thinking too old school.

I liked the live action TMNT but at the same time I loved the fully animated movie too. I rather them stick wit the animated, and make that damn sequel! I loved the style, and the action was great, everything was bad ass, and now they are going back to live action? This doesn't make any sense to me.

maybe i'm stupid or something, but what do they mean exactly by "live/CG" hybrid? is it just live w/ special effects, like normal? Or Beowolf type? Or live people, but turtles are CG? (which would suck)....?what do they mean!!!????

Live action all the way. The fight scenes would look much much better. The martial artists the did the original TMNT were utterly amazing.
Dont diss the costumes. The original TMNT had great costumes courtesy of Jim Henson Productions. And lets remember the Planet of the Apes remake, those costumes were fanstastic too.

live action is so much better than cgi, but they need real costumes, no computerized turtles bull****... and sara michelle gellar and chris evans voices may have worked for the cartoon, but there is no way those two can pull of april and casey jones in a live action movie

They'd better not make this dark and gritty, if they do it's just because of TDK. And I don't care if that is what the comic is like. Honestly how many people love the turltes because of the comic? We all know it is the old movies and the animated series that took the world by storm. Those are the turtles people know and love. Those are the turtles people want to see in a new movie. Perion.
LAST!!!

I don't know how it'll turn out... but i'm in favor of any ninja turtles movie...
yes, even 3

OK, I'm as big of a fan of TDK as anyone, but stop acting like that is all that is good.
And to the moron saying to bring the kiddy and fruity TMNT from the cartoons to the big screen again, get some intelligence. I and MANY people have been a fan of the TMNT for the MUCH superior comics, not for the 5 year old crap.
They ARE dark and gritty, just like Batman, so yes it should be like TDK. Kids liked the old Batmans, but that doesn't matter, they went to the comics and got the dark version and created Begins and TDK, and look how that turned out. TMNT and Batman are my top favorite comics of all time, and they deserve to get a movie like his.
"perion". That sums up your sad post right there.

Live action CGI Hybrud? Like Garfiekd?!!! Who knows. If they try to make realistic cgi, I guess.
I also heartily concur that this should be dark and gritty. Not because TDK showed that a dark and gritty movie sells, but because the source material is dark and gritty. This should go for a hard PG-13 to an R rating and show some blood. You don't fight people with sai's and swords and not shed some blood.

Well i don't know what to say, but i never thought that the TMNT were or was Dark as many or some are saying....but it's good to know.
I had found out about this on the other Update: Kevin Eastman Talks Live-Action TMNT.
I only new about the TMNT when they FIRST came out in theaters back then in ( 1990 )
After that all that i told my self WOW...this is comedy and so on.
But it's good to know., and no i never bought any comic's as well. because i thought it was also comedy....even the cartoon's are comedy.
If the TMNT will be Dark.
LONG LIVE THE TMNT!!!

I'm not sure what everyone is talking about the comics being dark. They were more sci-fi or sci-fantasy oriented. Sure they were more serious than the cartoons, but I wouldn't call it dark. The humor was much more adult as well.
Give me live action and another movie. Just don't give me another origin story.
