New Gatchaman Teaser Clip and Photos
Source:Imagi
September 8, 2008

Imagi has premiered a short teaser clip and new photos from Gatchaman on the company's official website (click 'Our Films,' then 'Gatchaman')!

Gatchaman originated in Japan in the early 1970s as the TV series "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman." Aired in the U.S. as "Battle of the Planets" and "G-Force," it soon became a widely popular syndicated TV series.

Featuring some of the most ambitious action sequences ever seen in animation, the Warner Bros. release is set in a future world grappling with environmental and technological issues. The story focuses on five reluctant heroes whose remarkable genetic code makes them Earth's only hope of defeating extra-terrestrial invaders.

You can watch the clip using either the player below or by clicking here, where you'll also find the new photos.

Looks like an abomination like Speed Racer. A little OD on the CG.

uhmmmmmmmm well that was a teaser alright, not much to get anyone excited. But I really enjoyed TMNT, so my interest is piqued to what these guys have in store.

remember speed racer???remember flop movie??..they never learn..

Posted by: FanBoiii on September 8, 2008 at 02:10:45

why are people comparing this to speed racer? speed racer was live action.

this is completely cgi and not made by wachowskis. i don't get the negativity since imagi has done a good job with TMNT.

if you don't know what gatchaman is, look it up instead of leaving ignorant comments. you might end up liking it.

I'm glad WB gave the W-Brothers another chance with Speed Racer 2

all you little kids need to bone up on your Gatchaman. this could be really good.

Nice teaser for Speed Racer 2 ... direct to video !

I guess this movie will be as stupid and boring as SR... it will be a $100 million turkey !

Just watching those 10 seconds, I'll already throw up on my keyboard... yuk !

Posted by: baybay on September 8, 2008 at 03:52:02

Posted by: eric on September 8, 2008 at 03:54:06

this show was called battle of the blanets in the U.S.
in japan it is gatchaman

Posted by: icko on September 8, 2008 at 04:31:33

it was also called g_force...right?

Posted by: Si on September 8, 2008 at 04:32:03

Gatchaman/Battle of the Planets/G-Force

I'd say it looks alright so far, but nothing has really been seen, hence why anyone who says its **** are just retards

You guys don't know Gatchaman? What's wrong with you?

Anyway, this trailer was too brief to show anything substantial. The TNT anime commercials were more exciting than this.

I grew up watching Battle of the Planets, and their battle cry G-Force. Tiny and Ke-op were always my favourite. Can't wait to see more of it!

Why the hell are people comparing this to Speed Racer? It's not live action. The plot is completely different. All we saw was a few seconds of it. Is it some golden rule that everyone on the internet must ***** more than they should about every little tiny detail? Myself, I think it looks great.

Posted by: Supremus on September 8, 2008 at 07:25:09

As a teaser, this failed to tease or even interest, and as such, the criticism is valid.

That's not to say the movie won't be any good, but if this is the best they could come up with to wet people's appetites, it's really not looking too promising.

It looks like cartoon / comic based films are copying the format of The Dark Knight.. Seems that the score of this Gatchaman trailer is copying the Dark Knight music.

Posted by: Supremus on September 8, 2008 at 07:46:22

The trailer music sounds much more like Transformers than Batman, actually. I haven't listed to the OST for a while, but I could have sworn that was the Scorponok track.

wow, the anticipation. Its unbearable!

oh man looks awe full, gatchman was a more late teen oriented animation, just watch the original japanese anime and you'll know what I am talking about, it was sexy with the girl always showing some skin, and the leader was drawn to look like david cassidy to appeal girls too so c'mon!!!! even the OVA remake used those ideas and it was awesome too, just too short, Imagi is a great studio but they are aiming the wrong crowd, it was ok with the turtles to make it mostly for kids but gatchman? I dont think so

this movie is going to be excellent. for those who compare it to speed racer, not only will the film be made differently, but the original sources are light years apart. gatchaman, however they titled/edited it, was one of the best cartoons ever put on television. the animation would be really dated by today's standards, and a movie can treat the storyline seriously. in the hands of paul dini, and with cgi like that, this could be amazing.
