Kristen Bell Lands Lead in Astro Boy
August 24, 2008
Kristen Bell (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, "Heroes," "Veronica Mars") will voice the leading female voice in Warner Bros.' CG-animated Astro Boy, coming to theaters next year.
She joins a voice cast that includes Nicolas Cage, Donald Sutherland, Bill Nighy, Nathan Lane, Eugene Levy and Freddie Highmore.
Set in futuristic Metro City, Imagi Studios' Astro Boy is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist to replace the son he has lost. Unable to fulfill the grieving father's expectations, our hero embarks on a journey in search of acceptance, experiencing betrayal and a netherworld of robot gladiators, before he returns to save Metro City and reconcile with the man who had rejected him.

Man I hope they do a really good job with Astro Boy.....it could be an animated blockbuster if done right (meaning, animation, story, music....and let's not forget the SOUND EFFECTS.....I remember loving the little squeeky noise that Astro Boy made as he walks along.

I love Bell. She was great in Veronica Mars.
I would go as far to say she would have made a better Buffy than Sarah Michelle Gellar. At the very least, I bet she would not have been way too high on herself like SMG, and actually took part in the DVD extras. Sorry for the rant. I recently watched all the BTVS DVD's and all the extras, SMG was in almost none of them Ð including the coverage of the wrap party. What a princess.
As for Astro Bot. Meh. No real interest there. But should be better than that lame-ass Speed Racer. I would much rather see G-Force/Battle of the Planets. Bell could be Princess!

Oh my God- the janitors going to have his hands full cleaning up the mess by the fanboys now that Kristen bell is doing yet another gig. Let see, is the role going to require some monotonous voice in a lukewarm yet cynical tone.
Same ol' ****.

Kristen Bell, huh? Has anyone properly thought of casting her as a possible AVENGER?!? Like, maybe, MS. MARVEL???
Posted by: wyked on August 25, 2008 at 21:21:33
why would they have harlequin when the man who played jokers dead to recast would just suck it would be to hard to replace. maybe on the next reboot.
Posted by: nykko on August 25, 2008 at 21:24:07
she should be princes leah in the starwars reboot directed by peter jackson maybe he can do the last three where luke turns bad like in the books

@MR. Garza
Kristen as Ms. Marvel would be good, but Ms. Marvel is tall.
Kristen isnt :(

I agree with wyked, but on the off chance they do recast and have Harley, I think Zooey Deschanel (sp?) would be a good choice too.
and as much as I love Kristen Bell, she would make a horrible Ms. Marvel

To me a good choice, although not a particular fan, would be Brittney Murphy as Harley Quinn.
Anyway, it's good that Astro Boy is going the CG animation route. Anything live-action would just fail. I'm curious to see some production sketches etc. to get a glimpse on where they're going with it.
..and if at the end of the film they ask everyone to grab a pencil and paper, it would be awesome.

but it would have to be the dirty girl britney murphy from 8 mile and don't say a word. she was smokin' hot as a dirty girl. when she licked her hand to get herself wet in 8 mile i nearly came...lol
way too much information!!

Did anyone tell her she can't act?

I totally disagree with FuryusV about Astro Boy
becoming another Speed Racer. Speed Racer should never have been made into a live action
film ever!!! I believe Astro Boy will do quite
well because it will remain an animated movie--
Thank you!
