Seth Rogen Briefly Talks Green Hornet
Source:Richard
August 5, 2008

Seth Rogen appeared on CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman" Monday night to promote Pineapple Express and 'Richard' wrote in with the rundown:

Seth Rogen talks Green Hornet with David Letterman. Seth talks about diet and working out with a trainer to get ready to play Brit. He ended the segment by doing a running dive 17 feet across a swimming pool set up on 53rd Street while wearing a black business suit and tie. Seth lost his glasses during the stunt but managed to come in fourth in the Purina diving competition for dogs. It was a cool segment and it looks like he's already lost some weight.

You can already watch the segment online here!

why so serious

Seth Rogen is funny. Pineapple Express looks like it'll be a nice chaser to my last five screenings of The Dark Knight, I could use a comedy.
Not too sure how he'll do writing/acting in Super-Hero type movie, but here's to optimism!

GREEN ROGEN????!!! Heh, talk about a new weird breed of superhero...

Posted by: mark hunter on August 5, 2008 at 01:57:21

He will loose the weight, and surprise people. Like it or not, Seth is the next Tom Hanks.

Posted by: CM on August 5, 2008 at 02:25:37

Mark Hunter that's a dumb comment. They've already ruined the Green Hornet...

Not to sound like a **** or anything but since when is everyone a big green hornet fan? Any one read the last issue of green hornet where cato...I think, got into some shenanigans? Oh man! It was crazy! The green hornet did something cool and the day was saved. He got the girl and everything. My point(if there is 1) is that it seems that there are out of the blue green hornet fans coming out of the wood work. As if this has been a hugely popular character since the days of batman and superman. I frankly could care less who plays who in this movie. And if the director manages to mess up some character I only know because of the Batman (Adam West) t.v. show then so be it. The only people I think that might be fans are our grandparents or our really old parents that waited too long to have kids. Maybe I'm wrong though.

heh...

I prefer the Green Lantern.

Anyone can lose weight w/ a personal trainer. I wouldn't care if he didn't lose weight. I think he's hot just as he is.

Is he related to Joe Rogan?

Posted by: j on August 5, 2008 at 03:56:35

You know I may be the minority here but I think this will be really cool. I know Rogen is a big comic geek and will treat the source seriously and it does look like he is starting to get in shape. Now I just hope Steven Chow is going to play Kato!

Posted by: Moorish on August 5, 2008 at 05:08:06

@Darkman: Hahahahahaha!

You're totally right. Suddenly everyone's up in arms over the treatment of the Green Hornet? Does anyone REALLY care? Batman this ain't.

Posted by: some guy on August 5, 2008 at 06:14:20

Why does he need to be in shape? It could be about how the green hornet starts out...he could be pudgy for a reason. Kato helps him turn it all around and the day is saved with the green hornet vowing to turn his life around. Enter new tv series, updated comic book, several pocasts and lots of toys.

Hey, Darkman!

Just because you don't care about The Green Hornet, doesn't mean others don't! When I was a kid, I used to watch old VHS tapes of serials from the 30s and 40s - and I loved the Green Hornet, and always have! I love that the first actor to play Kato eventually became the Old Asian Man in the first Gremlins movie, or that the character, Britt Reid, is the great grand-nephew of The Lone Ranger. Sure, this is all stuff that any geek worth his salt should know, and sure T.G.H. isn't as popular or well known as Batman, but before the movie, who would have given a damn about Blade except for its hard-core fans who'd been reading Marvel's 70s horror comics (Tomb Of Dracula, etc.) My point is (if I have one) that just because its not your Geek Christmas, doesn't mean you have to Grinch it for everyone else.

Personally, I think Rogen working with Stephen Chow as Kato could be both awesome and hilarious, and I can't wait for a teaser trailer or some spoiler info on the story. Get to work SHH!

GREEN ROGAN!!!

Posted by: Jesse on August 5, 2008 at 09:05:53

then who is going to play kato?

Posted by: Archangel on August 5, 2008 at 09:08:17

I don't care how much weight he looses, he is still the wrong chose to play the role and the wrong person to write this movie!!!

Posted by: How about a magic trick? on August 5, 2008 at 09:08:25

Green... "ROGEN"???

First "In2mbed" and now this... Sigh...

Journalism standards seem to be crumbling nowadays.

Posted by: Lawrence on August 5, 2008 at 09:09:18

Seth Rogen is too fat to play Green Hornet..
what the hell are they (universal studios) thinking?

Posted by: Jesse on August 5, 2008 at 09:12:08

the who is going to play Kato? hmmm...

Posted by: FEAST on August 5, 2008 at 09:13:04

I have complete confidence in Roagan, bring on the Hornet!

Posted by: Patman on August 5, 2008 at 09:52:41

Am I the only one who thinks that the only real reason Green Hornet ever existed was so that Bruce Lee could play Kato, and so that Seth Rogen could eventually play Britt? The show changed form and format from it's radio broadcasts to television until it's descent into obscurity. Even back in the day it was a little campy. I guess I don't see a problem with this version. I think it'll be a fun film. Not every comic book character has to be given the "dark" treatment. In fact, some wouldn't be served well by it at all.

Go, Kato, go!!!

Posted by: Paul on August 5, 2008 at 09:58:35

Why do they turn good TV shows into crap movies? The original rumor with Clooney as Hornet and Jet Li as Kato with writer/director Kevin Smith sounds way better than this Rogen/Chow team up. The original series was on when Batman was on with Adam West. It only lasted a year because it was not campy, it was serious. Now, I hope they don't turn it campy and keep it serious. Here's to hoping.

Posted by: The Steve on August 5, 2008 at 10:57:26

Honestly, how can a movie about a crime fighting rich boy and his super-agile ninja chauffer (sp?) not be at least a little campy? Particularly considering that the ninja changes nothing about his "Driving Miss Daisy" costume except for a small domino mask.
Seriously, though. Personally, I like Seth Rogen. He's funny, and comes acrossed as a pretty smart dude and is very clearly a fellow fanboy. So I think we should at least hold off on the lynching until we see some decent footage.
As for "no one cared about Green Hornet until now"...yeah, I gotta admit there's a small bit of truth to that. Yes, he'd sort of faded in to the back row until Rogen showed up but I know there are still serious fans out there (under the age of 65) and I think it's unfair to generalize. Bottom line is that it's a comic adaptation and, along with The Shadow and the other old serials, we owe the success of all our faves to these progenitors.

I just think that everything is wrong about this idea. And wow, did someone actually say that Seth Rogen is the next Tom Hanks!? You are crazy.

Posted by: FireFly's Enigma on August 5, 2008 at 13:22:15

I want to see Kevin Smith's take on the Green Hornet. LOL! Anyone else see what he said during An Evening with Kevin Smith 1 or 2. I can't remember which it was. Both are funny as hell.
