Tyrese Gibson a Thundercat?

July 28, 2008
Superhero Hype! got a chance to speak with rapidly rising star Tyrese Gibson at the Death Race junket in San Diego on Sunday. We'll have the full video interview soon, but he did fill us in on another big project for him that will hopefully be happening the near future: Thundercats!
Tyrese said that he's been very involved in the attempt to bring the classic '80s cartoon series to the big screen and seemed to hint that a deal is very nearly complete. We asked him what character he'd be playing and he just smiled and said that there's a number of options on the table.
Late last year, the project was announced as a CG-animated feature at Warner Bros. Pictures that would be directed by video game veteran Jerry O'Flaherty. Whether that still stands is unknown.
Look for the full interview soon!

terry crews as luke cage is a bad idea. he isnt that great of a actor to play luke cage. Tyrese to me is the perfect choice. and hounsou as black panther is the perfect choice to. im liking marvels casts as of late so hopefully these two get the lead roles for both these characters.

Of course Panthro sounded black, he was voiced by the guy who played the Grandfather on the Cosby Show. That guy was black, sorta.

If jamie foxx can play Ray Charles perfectly, then Terry Crews could easily OWN the role of Luke Cage. Just watch him on "Everyone Hates Chris" and "Next Friday". Luke Cage is a happy go-lucky ex-thug with a humorous persona. Terry Crews is LUKE CAGE! Tyrese is the same charater in every film his in. Marvel just need to take a look at Terry.

GOD I HOPE HE WON'T BE PANTHRO!! Panthro should be voiced by a black man with b@lls!! Not PHUCKIN BABY BOY!!! Michael Jai White has the perfect voice! Ving Rhames, Michael Clark Duncan, or Djimon Hounsou (his accent would be bad @ss for panthro!!).

who cares until its official its all rumors

Panthro needs to be a black guy, due to keepign to the orginial cartoon where he was so freakin' black in that awesome 80s cartoon way.
Tyrese Gibson not really ideal for Panthro, Panthro should be able to do the cheesy "HA HA HA Snarf you fool!" at the end of every episode whilst still having the vibe of "I'm laughing now, but I really will tear all your limbs off if you look like a threat"
Micahel Clarke Duncan a bit too enormous, Wesley Snipes a bit too incarcerated, Samuel L Jackson too in every other movie being made in the next 5 years... For someone to rock this part hard it's going to be someone you and I have never heard of

Well, ther goes that movie.

Did he pay to be in this movie like he did in transformers?

In defense of political correctness, you defeat political correctness. Tsk, tsk, tsk...

Terry Crews sucks, Tyrese sucks....just wanted to throw that in there one more time
Posted by: Alabastor Slim on July 28, 2008 at 21:13:22
I think he should play Kunta Kentae in a ROOTS remake

Well, Captain, to answer your question you must look at the actual Thundercats. Panthro was not only voiced black, but his facial structure was skewed toward black man features.
And, yes, if it makes you happy, I not only pee in bed, but I **** myself every time somebody impersonates me.

I don't like tyrese in any role from the thundercats. It involves alot of fighting sequences and tyrese has no experience in that. Also, I think he can only play roles within his means. This would mean he would have to go out of the box type performance on this one. This is not looking good already.
Posted by: Daysofthunder6179 on July 28, 2008 at 21:56:48
Oh!! The only role i can see him playing is some random character that dies very quickly, Like in the first 5 mins of the movie.

@so freakin' black in that awesome 80s cartoon
dude, you should call Jesse Jackson, I'd bet he'll back you up on this. Assuming he's not making an @$$ out of himself at the moment (which I think is all the time).

CG?! Live action is the way to go! My only question is for my peers who write after me.
Snarf or no Snarf, Your thoughts?
Posted by: Banana Bread on July 28, 2008 at 23:47:30
I say he should play Panthro
Posted by: Matt Murdock Pimp on July 29, 2008 at 00:02:38
panthro was voiced byt the same actor who played Bill Cosbys' father on the Cosby Show.
Not being stereotypical but Panthro is the only character that would fit Tyrese. But since is pretty much a mediocre actor who has roles thrown at him because of his musical career..this is a bad casting choice. He wasn't even convincing as a marine in Transformers and he was terrible in 2 Fast 2 Furious. Whats next Green Lantern/Luke Cage/Black Panther? c'mon there are more talented black actors than Tyrese. Common should play John Stewart,Chiwetal Eliojofor(sp) should play Black Panther and Luke Cage should be Michael Jai White

Papa Snarf, Batman is pretty close to film noir to begin with. Even with the "realistic" take it doesn't stray too far from the core of the character. Thundercats, however, is a bit more to the left crazy town. I personally think any attempt to make it more realistic would clash with it's very nature. How do you rationalize one of a thousand tiger, panther lion or cheetah-like people having the names Tigra, Panthro, Lion-O and Cheetara? Or more to the point, why do you need it rationalized? Will it really alter how you enjoy the film? I look back on movies of pure fantasy, the Dark Chrystal, Star Wars, you don't see that kind of "out there" film making anymore. I miss the fantasy. And sadly from what I've heard of the new He-Man movie, there is yet again, no Orko.

"this is the 2*** century get over the hate we all drink from the same fountin and choose any seat on the bus we like now feel the love NOT the HATE that you ppl breed on these websites GEARED toward hatred"
There's a big difference between the world we have and the world people would like to THINK we have. People these days are more hateful, selfish and just plain evil than they've ever been and it's just going to get worse. How can anyone think anything has changed for the better?
Posted by: WillardNation on July 29, 2008 at 01:54:10
How was I hating black people right there? I was simply making fun of you for making a mountain out of a mole hill as they say. And how in the hell am I supposed to know what race you are? It's a message board jackass I can't see you, how do you know I'm not black, huh?
Posted by: WillardNation on July 29, 2008 at 01:55:48
and by the way, stealing people's names is real mature too
Posted by: GK1 on July 29, 2008 at 02:38:32
this does not bode will with me.
Tyrese can't act outside of his personal ethnicity.
Meaning Tyrese can't be taken serious outside of a stereotypical black guy role
and that my friends is sad.

@so freakin' black in that awesome 80s cartoon
go through and read all the posts jackass, I never once made mention of anything involving Thundercats, and I never once made the assumption that you were black and I never once made any kind of racial remark whatsoever, once again, I was making fun of you for making a big #ucking deal out of something on a superhero movie message board. but whatever, you are obviously just trying to get attention and start #hit with anybody at this point and it doesn't matter what I say, you will come back and decide that I'm racist for reasons you yourself made up. and for the record, I referenced jesse jackson because he is known for getting involved in any controversy involving race no matter how big or small. In closing, grow the #uck up dude.
