Tyrese Gibson a Thundercat?
Source:Silas Lesnick
July 28, 2008

Superhero Hype! got a chance to speak with rapidly rising star Tyrese Gibson at the Death Race junket in San Diego on Sunday. We'll have the full video interview soon, but he did fill us in on another big project for him that will hopefully be happening the near future: Thundercats!

Tyrese said that he's been very involved in the attempt to bring the classic '80s cartoon series to the big screen and seemed to hint that a deal is very nearly complete. We asked him what character he'd be playing and he just smiled and said that there's a number of options on the table.

Late last year, the project was announced as a CG-animated feature at Warner Bros. Pictures that would be directed by video game veteran Jerry O'Flaherty. Whether that still stands is unknown.

Look for the full interview soon!

I am not racist. I firmly believe Panthro's facial structure, especially his nose, is obviously designed to make him look more black. Look at Lion-O: They didn't make his nose like a real lions. And beside, what's so racist about thinking Panthro's black, anyway? Que jodienda con ustedes, coño!

But mainly, if you're gonna get uppitty about an anthropomorphic Panther being considered black, you might as well not be sexist/homophobic while you're at it, eh, Captain? Just thought. And despite what self help books say, your words and thoughts do NOT alter reality

I didn't read all of the comments, so I don't know if anyone as mentioned him for Luke Cage. I think Ving Rhames would be a great for the role. He's big, he's got the swagger, and he is great actor.

If I were to cast someone to play Panthro I would cast Michael Clark Duncan. The dude has the mass for sure and the voice!!! as far as the rest of the cast, Tyrese might make a good Vulture Man or Monkey Man!!! Lion-O would be played by Ben Foster, the twins could be played by Shia LaBouf and Anna Paquin,Jackal Man would be played by Ryan Reynolds,Mum-Ra would be played by John Malkovich and the two older brother and sister Thundercats would be played by Michael Jai-White and Milla Jovavich...what do you guys think?

Posted by: The Universe of D.C. vs Marvel on July 29, 2008 at 14:03:36

Thundercats Movie Cast:

Lion-O - Ben Foster (Angel from X3)

Tigra - Tyrese Gibson

Cheetara - Mila Jovavich

Wiley-Cat - Shia LaBouf

Wiley-Kit - Anna Paquin

Mumm-Ra - John Malkovich

Jackal Man
Vulture Man > Tyrese Gibson,Ryan
Monkey Man / Reynolds and Willem
Dafoe

SNARF - CGI and should be in there!

The King of the Thundercats should be played by Sir Sean Connery!!

Any thoughts anyone?

Posted by: The Universe of D.C. vs Marvel on July 29, 2008 at 14:05:18

Oops!!! Tigra should have been Michael Jai-White

Posted by: THUNDA' CAT!!! on July 29, 2008 at 16:19:52

Michael Clark Duncan sounds like a better choice for Panthro. Either him or Carrot Top (JUST KIDDING!!!).

I remember a few years ago, Rachel McAdams stated that she'd love to play Cheetara in a live action Thundercats movie.

I think Michael Jai White would be a better Luke Cage.

Did you guys see that Tyrese is also up for the role of B.A. Barracus in the A-Team movie?

????!!!!!?????

In that, I can see either Michael Clark Duncan or Ving Rhames. Or better yet, Mr.T himself.

HOW THE HELL DO YOU REPLACE T!!!???!!!???

If they cast Tyrese as B.A. they may as well go the whole 9 yards and cast big mouth Chris Tucker instead.

GEEZ!!!!!

Ving Rhames or Terry Crewes or Mighty Rasta for Panthro and Luke Cage

Posted by: The Universe of D.C. vs Marvel on July 29, 2008 at 22:35:08

Actually, the person I feel best fits Luke Cage, other than is age being against him is, ex-football player and wrestler Ron Simmons..look him up on google and see for your self, he looks just like Luke Cage!!!

Panthro: Michael Clarke Duncan, Henry Simmons or Terry Crews

Tigra: Jason Momoa, Kevin Durand or The Rock
Wiley-Kat: Ryan Sheckler
Wiley-Kit: Dakota Fanning

Mum-Ra: Christopher Lee, Geoffrey Rush or Alan Rickman

@The Universe of D.C. vs Marvel

That dude's way too old, I'll bet any amount of money he can't act for ****. I'm sticking with either Common (after packing on alot of muscle naturally) or Henry Simmons.

Why people always want to see professional wrestlers in movies I'll never understand, 95% of them couldn't act to save their lives.

it better not be a stupid cartoon! better be live-action

Posted by: WTF on July 30, 2008 at 00:32:44

better be live no cartoon crap

@ ad *****Please!!!
Michael Jai White is too damn short.
If your going to do something you go all the way...not half-ass

To R-Date Cowboy. You're right about the black voice acting. In case you didn't know (but you probably do) the voice of Panthro was done by the actor that played Cliff Huxtable's father on the Cosby Show.

Posted by: Spadoinkle on July 30, 2008 at 11:06:23

hey islandson, Ali Larter is a good choice for Cheetara! I think Blake Lively may look the part too. Dunno about acting wise tho, havent seen her in much....

Posted by: islandson on July 30, 2008 at 11:14:03

@ Spadoinkle

You're right, Blake Lively really looks the part. But I always thought that Cheetarah should be a slender, lean and trim woman which is why Uma came to mind, but I guess there's room for interpretation based on acting skills.

in a live action film micheal clark duncan- would not make a good panthro voice acter maybe but not live action

michael jai white- no i dont like his acting overkill he tries to hard.

tyrese- is a ok chioce if he really put in the work to make it happen.

and they should do a LUKE CAGE movie. Alot of people thought blade could not do a stand alone movie, and here we are 2 crappy sequels later

Posted by: Wolfy on July 30, 2008 at 17:01:59

If it is a CGI movie, than Lion-O should be played by no other than Larry Kenney! They should really pick up the pace with this project, I want to see it soon.

omg lucas did u say u like anyone in 2 fast 2 furious?that movie was horiible especially tyese in it havnt seen him in a movie he hasnt ruined exept transformers and his acting definatly didnt help the movie.

Posted by: The Universe of D.C. vs Marvel on July 30, 2008 at 20:10:10

@ Willard Nation

If you read my post you would see I said "Other than his age" He looks just like Luke Cage physically!! If I remember correctly, Luke Cage was a former street thug so my guess is you wouldn't need an A-list actor or a Grammy nominated actor to play him!! I don't follow wrestling so I definitely don't have a fixation with chosing wrestlers to play superheroes!! I chose him because of his appearance only!!

Posted by: oscuro666 on July 30, 2008 at 21:09:32

Tyrese gibson is a f...k as...le.
And Samuel Jacson play Cheetara.

Posted by: Romin Baldera on July 30, 2008 at 22:37:02

If were in change of casting, would be as fallows:
Vaing Raimes as panthro, the guy who played mr fantastic or the guy who played van Hellsing as tigera. jessica simpson or robeka rojamin stamos as cheatara, tarens stamp as jagah because he has the voyce and the look. and finely branden routh as layeno. he has the right look and billed. snarf as c g i or mini me. emperor palpeteen as cloked mombra and the Rock as the ever living. the mutents can be like the creatures in lord of the rings and the movie should be shot in a star wars style.

Posted by: Batzarro: World's worst detective on July 31, 2008 at 02:49:50

If it's CG, though, they'd been better of casting Greg Eagles as Panthro...

Posted by: oscuro666 on August 2, 2008 at 21:24:02

SNARF: Ben Foster.
LION-O: Karl Urban.
CHEETARA: Jesica Biel.
PANTHRO: The big black actor who dropped a control of c-4 in TDK.
TIGRO: The actor play villain in SWAT.
