Gale Anne Hurd's Valhalla Motion Pictures, producer of Marvel Studios' summer hit release The Incredible Hulk, and Platinum Studios, Inc., an entertainment company that controls an international library of more than 5,600 comic book characters which it adapts, produces and licenses for all forms of media, and Top Cow Productions, an entertainment company specializing in building intellectual properties through comic book and graphic novel publication like Universal's summer box office hit Wanted, have attached Jenna Dewan and Luke Goss to star in the feature film Magdalena based on Top Cow's comic book character "Magdalena," which is currently in development.

Jenna Dewan is set to play Patience, a young woman who discovers that she is a part of the lineage of female warriors descended from Mary Magdalene. Patience must accept her destiny in time to save the world from a supernatural evil. Dewan's other film credits include her breakout role in Step Up, Take the Lead, The Grudge 2 and Love Lies Bleeding.

Luke Goss is set to play Kristof, an agent sent by the ultra secret organization that has been the guardian of the lineage of Magdalena. Goss co-stars in the blockbuster film Hellboy II: The Golden Army from director Guillermo Del Toro and the upcoming science fiction thriller Tekken based on the popular video and arcade game. Goss was part of the multi-platinum-selling British band BROS. and wrote a bestselling autobiography on his experiences with the group.

Gale Anne Hurd and Platinum Studios' Chairman and CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg are set to produce. Gary Ventimiglia, President of Production at Valhalla Motion Pictures, who was instrumental in bringing Dewan and Goss to the project, is set to executive produce. Top Cow's CEO Marc Silvestri ("Witchblade," "Darkness") would serve as executive producer as would former Universal Pictures senior executive Randy Greenberg of The Greenberg Group, who helped negotiate the deal. Matt Hawkins, President of Top Cow Productions, is set to co-produce.

They really are scooping up every single graphic novel these days aren't they?

Marvel and DC can't have all the fun.

That's good, I guess. I've never read it. If Image were to throw their hat in the ring and give their properties a serious go I'd be happy to see 'em. Their characters didn't really have a history of being kid friendly, though some people *cough-Rob Liefeld-cough* seemed to be edgy just for edginess' sake.

A better 'Spawn' movie would be cool. I was so disappointed by 'Spawn'. The only good thing about it was John Leguizamo. Otherwise the film was horrible... like, Mark Steven Johnson's kind of horrible... with worse cgi. The animated series on HBO was good, though the story was altered a lot. Anyways, there's a few really kickass properties in Image's portfolio that are screenworthy. They just need to do 'em up right.

I still say a Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. movie would be awesome

Jenna Dewan is smokin' Hot, Hot, Hot!!! I totally was digging her in her "TAMARA" movie.

I love The Darkness, Magdelena, and Withcblade now two out of three are coming to the big screen very soon. Now if only The would make a Darkness movie.

I was reading some issues of Magdalena from the unlockable content in The Darkness game just the other day and I was thinking it could be a good bases for a movie.

Like a Blade type action film, or First Knight... with far better production value and writing. This could work.

I'd be happy with 'The Darkness'(preferably directed by Alex Proyas), Gen¹³ (preferably directed by Joss Whedon), and if they could do a good job making it, Cyberforce (directed by J.J. Abrams or Doug Liman).

Sweet!!!!!!!!!! I love this comic! This girl has definitely got it in the looks department, hopefully she can act.

Edit: I meant Fallen Knight, not First Knight.

Back when The Magdelena was first put out, with the way that she was drawn, I'd always thought that Carmen Electra would've been a good version. This Jenna Dewan girl looks great and she is very sensuous. Hope the acting chops are up to snuff.

Witchblade is coming and I'm still waiting for The Darkness to be announced. That would be incredible and it's only a matter of time before we see an announcement on that (judging by the way that Witchblade and now this flick have been announced).

I'd also love to see CyberForce hit the big screen, adapting the 1st 4 issue mini-series from the early 90s.

---Later!

I am a man but I am glad women are able to have some fun in the comic book genre. And actually can play a lead and not a support.
